proton pre-geely was problematic because of power train right? the fuel guzzling engine and punch cvt. but one thing proton did especially under syed zainal was a R&D heavily on EV 15 years ago. they basically look forward to prepare for post-ICE era. but najib admin at that time had it enough with proton and ask khazanah to sell to other party with agreement to do JV with any foreign entity.
