Sources within MCA have revealed that the Pahang MCA held a meeting last week in Kuantan and unanimously passed a resolution. This resolution will be brought to the MCA National Annual General Meeting next month, where delegates from all divisions will vote on whether to leave Barisan Nasional.

The source stated that this proposal was initiated by the MCA Kuantan division. However, it is understood that not all divisions are in agreement, with some expressing opposition. The final decision will be made by the delegates at the general assembly.

Pointing Towards Alliance with Perikatan Nasional or a Third Force

This anonymous source indicated that the divisions supporting the motion believe that Barisan Nasional is already defunct. Having found their own political path, UMNO will choose to align with "UMDAP" in the general election, which would gradually diminish MCA's value.

He said that only by leaving Barisan Nasional, withdrawing from the Barisan Nasional government, and aligning with Perikatan Nasional or a third force in the general election can MCA find a way forward.

"We believe there are many silent Chinese voters who are dissatisfied with the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and want to vote for another Chinese-based party, but they also dislike Barisan Nasional, so they currently have no choice. MCA's grassroots strength is still considerable. If we leave the Barisan Nasional government and form an alliance with other political forces, we believe it will be easier to attract Chinese votes."

MCA Youth Supports Withdrawal

He emphasized that the MCA leadership will respect the decisions of all divisions, and currently, the MCA Youth is the most active force supporting withdrawal from the Barisan Nasional government.

Although Pahang MCA does not have any elected state assemblymen, it holds 45 appointed official positions, including one state executive council member, 19 district and municipal councilors, and 25 village committee members. The state executive council member is the MCA Temerloh Division Chairman.

Reporters attempted to contact MCA President Wee Ka Siong, MCA Secretary-General and Pahang MCA Liaison Committee Chairman Chong Sin Woon, and MCA Bentong Division Chief but they did not respond.

Ti Lian Ker: Let the Grassroots Express Their Views

MCA Kuantan Division Chairman Ti Lian Ker, when contacted for confirmation, declined to respond to whether the proposal to "withdraw from the Barisan Nasional government" originated from his division.
He stated that the leadership currently does not have a clear direction. Under the democratic process, it is appropriate to let the grassroots express their opinions, so allowing the divisions to have free rein is a necessary step.

Ti Lian Ker, who is also a former MCA Deputy President, stressed that different divisions will have different demands, and the leadership must first understand their needs before making a decision.
