A lot of foreigners especially from the Western world said
that Kuala Lumpur is soulless, boring and not much things to do.
Often in comparison to Bangkok or HCMC.
Singapore is also boring to them.

Now we all know it is just an euphemism for the absence of
cheap alcohol,
avaibility of drugs
and free sexual experience.

Now, my question -
HOW DO WE MAKE KL NOT BORING TO THEM

Of course, excluding the above activities.
We don't want LBH, passportbros or pedos on our streets anyway

i usually go to SG for concert.
1st day - check in, eat at nearby restaurant and go to some pub with friends
2nd day - go to some shop and buy some shoe or shirt, go eat, doesn't matter where and go to gig
3rd day - leaves after check out

well, Malaysia is memang soulless

that is how it is when they cobbled disparate states , territories and freeports together to form Malaysia 1963

there is no soul to begin with.

and in between till then to now, there is a massive push towards displacement of native culture with Arabian culture

i get tired of noises after 1-2 nights.
I spent 7 days in Phuket and most of the time I go to the same Russian strip club in Bangla Soi.
I hate when Thai girls grabbing my arm to expect me to pay their bar fine.
Not a good impression on how low their life would be and we are contributing to it

Alcohol is life for most young western tourists. For older folks they like nature. So KL is just a transit point for them. Where as Asian tourists usually like KL for shopping and food.

Malaysia has always been a jungle since like forever, only in the past 100 years have we "developed". You can ask Atok all about it.

If Westerners are too dumb to appreciate this, it's their loss. Even Chinese/PRCs think like them and when they come here, they stick to KL (and love it).

BB is packed with locals waiting for their buskers to perform
They are posting daily videos and live streams of these live performances on YT

I live in Kuching
I have a waterfront nearby where locals like me jog and stroll in the evening till night.
Nearby also got one big lake near State library everyone go exercise, chill, feed fish and Zumba dance

You can only visit a museum once only, unless there's a limited time gallery.
Here we have one of the best museum in SE Asia.
I just visited it 2 weeks ago, Just pay like RM10 and it is worth it

When I was 10-20 years younger, I used to go to local shows of local artiste
or see a live band in pubs around town.

We've plenty of massage near bb also, walking past also a bit like pataya, people shoving laminated promotion ads at you, "Massat sir?"

Pasar seni revival is quite nice, but the walking journey to that place is not. walk halfway already lost all the mood, fucking trash rempit cilok here and there, dirty pathway, druggies camping outside 7 eleven with their needles.

The revival of shops outside petaling street also nice, but petaling street itself is shitty. Also same problem with pasar seni, the pathway is just fucking filth. With the exception that i don't see bangla/india prostitutes bargaining at the shop near the front of petaling street entrance anymore.

river of life is shitty. the smell there.. fuhh..

maybe replace DBKL with MPSJ, half of the problem with KL is solved

1.
Compared to other cities, KL has one natural disadvantage - water!
Bangkok has Chao Praya River;
HCMC has Saigon River;
HK has Victoria Harbour;
Singapore has Marina Bay & Singapore River;
even Melaka has a Melaka River;

KL has Klang River, but it is too small, too narrow.

There was a reason why Hollywood shot the river scene of the movie Entrapment in Melaka instead of in KL.

2.
Bali has many cultural shows - gamelan, kecak, barong, dances based on Ramayana.
Malaysia used to have something similar, but are never promoted. Some are ruled haram already.

For tourists who are not into beer and sex, cultural shows are a good alternative. But we flung it.

what is "wild" in your definition?
those "wild" things only available especially in Thailand and Vietnam
which is LOW CLASS entertainment.

Go spend a week during FMP in Phangan
and you wish that thses people will never visit Malaysia.

I've partied in clubs in Jakarta, Bali, Singapore, KL, KK, Penang, Kuching and Miri
and it feels much more enjoyable but civil.
being around drunk gap year white kids or off duty Israelis reserves in Thailand is not fun.
and also I've been to clubs in London, Amsterdam, Perth and Prague, where it is definitely "tame" in my respective

If you expect us to offer hedonism products like our neighbor then I have no comment. But we don't have to copy what they do, try offer something different.

Our museums, sightseeing and educational spots, like menara KL, petrosains, galeries, need update and put more efforts in graphical representation. And the most important is make it 'instagrammable' friendly because these days tourists are all about boasting in socmed.

look how they present information in interesting way in empire state building and One WTC before tourists step into observation deck:

for KL i dunno what local culture they can show to tourist. but some places like kelantan and terengganu, they have gasing besar, batik, wau, wayang kulit, all that has commercial value.

Now, my question -
HOW DO WE MAKE KL NOT BORING TO THEM

Of course, excluding the above activities.
We don't want LBH, passportbros or pedos on our streets anyway
*
Not by building more skyscrapers for shopping.

The people who come here want to experience the culture, and perhaps go off the beaten track.

They not interested in shopping for designer stuff in KLCC like the 2 girls who took off the sandals when entering the kedai runcit. 🤣

Take them to fishing village.

Go see fireflies in sampan.

Take them to tea plantation.

Show them how batik is made.

Dazzle them with wayang kulit, mak yong, kuda kepang...

Those tourists who come here to seek spiritual enlightenment and forge a closer bond with God

KL not much haram things to do.

Alcohol drinks are not cheap, many piap piap places, massage places got raided already.

They would rather go Thailand, can enjoy nicely, bang Thai chicks there, etc. Even Malaysia people going during holidays.

We need to re-introduce old traditions of playing gasing and flying kite to them. But gamify it so that they can win free beer or prizes. Give them wayang kulit, but in 3D virtual reality style to let them explore old folk lores in wayang kulit 3D virtual environment. We should make a place where there is lots of Malaysia culture looking and pretty souvenirs to be sold (even though they are all made and imported from China).

We are quite lucky that our climate is very interesting for tourists from any part of the world.
Surely there are some good ideas to boost tourism without vices as its reasoning.

Make KL more happening by combining city and jungle like promote KL Forest Park canopy walk or FRIM treetop bridge.
Upgrade night markets with live band, street magician, or even food treasure hunt, not just jalan-jalan, but got activity also.
Add more cultural spots with real kampung vibe , like Kampung Baru food walk or silat demo with teh tarik session.
Open more rooftop places with wow view and chill vibe , maybe got acoustic show, sunset yoga, or Insta photo zone.
Create cool local art trail , like graffiti hunt, pop-up gallery, or mural selfie contest with small prize.
Offer hands-on stuff tourists can join , batik painting, cook nasi lemak with makcik, or join durian tasting war.
Make LRT ride more like city adventure, each station got small story, challenge, or snack trail to complete.
Add one-of-a-kind attraction lah, like “Biggest Dart Frog Zone outside Amazon” or “Only Albino Polar Bear in SEA” , something people confirm want to see.
Make hidden café and kopitiam hunt into a game, collect stamp, win local dessert or free kopi.
Organize KL “night culture fest”,mix food stalls, traditional dance, and modern DJ, sekali jalan.

i hate to say this but those things are what tiktok or netflix is replacing now.
i was old enough to experience wayang pacak in my kampung
i wasn't from east coast so no wayang kulit or anything similar

the only cultural thing that is still going is weddings
We have Nopeng, which is a dance festival the night before the wedding and
a bunch of local Hor Lor or Bingo activities
while the kampung folks slaughter a bull and prepare it to cook
I still see this in parts of Sarawak until now.

I still see traditional Orang Ulu dance in a mall last Saturday.
In fact I've seen those things a lot.

Next week is Gawai. So it is normal to visit kampung to see some Miring or Ngajat

i go with friends and making new ones there.
It is not as noisy as other local places.
The girls usually ignores you,
there is a special room at the back for more private stuffs.

Once, there is a table next to us full with Russians
and the 6-8 girls swarms the table, probably around 3 good looking guys
they're drinking Vodka, obviously
singing some Russian songs. All of them
It was quite fun to watch.
Again, if the place is too loud, I wouldn't be hearing them singing.

One thing got me hooked was not the boobs and vagene, but the dance.
Local Thais usually do halfheartedly pole dancing,
just barely swinging their hips and
just waiting for the song to be over
These Russian women, they do it 110%.
like you see in the movies.
a full dance routine with upside down, from top till bottom pole, 360 swirl, fully naked.

and it is not that expensive anyway.
a Thai note is like RM2 or RM10. You can stick them in their panties while they dance.
They'll sit on you, let you motorboat their chest and such.
As long as you are tipping them good early on.
Thai girls are not that... easy I guess. Everything, money money money first.

My first Thai strip club experience was in 2006, and I got bored after 4-5 spots
Once one friend drags us to this one "atas" club till 4am in Bangla Soi
i took a nap on the sofa just waiting for him. The girls doesn't even make an effort to dance

satisfied with my answer?

Purdah or wearing tudung is popular now because of the Islamization of media, that is true.
It does come to peer pressure as well.

Regarding Arabic food, it is the influx of Syrian war refugee around early 2010.
Most of them are Syrian and Afghan. Even the Arab square in BB was way before the war.
And the Lebanese restaurants along (where the new Damascus) the street existed was in 2000.
Lebanese used to be popular in my area back in 2000.
Lebanese is de facto Arab food.

Well, no one talks about the Korean and Japanese culture boom in BB, right?
Only the small patch of Arab corner in BB.

b. food hunting
c. heritage (Penang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Melaka)
d. Sabah & Sarawak adventure

the part you highlight is mainly KL tho.. hence some travel youtube tried to go other states rather than focusing on KL alone.

At least try to appreciate for them to put Malaysia on part as Tourism rather than those negative Media.

try to compared to SG... despite multiple tourist visit, it is the same formula over n over again

a. Advance building
b. efficient public transport
c. SQ first & Biz class
d. Hawker center
e. USS themepark
f. Changi Airport

thats all.

Malaysia indeed have nice places, much better than Thailand
but we know we are lagging behind them to logistic infrastructures.

One van ride away will get you from spot to spot.
One boat ride away till get you from island to island.
One grab ride away will swerve you from neighborhood to neighborhood.

I've been to places all states in Malaysia including Labuan.
Visited hard to reach places like Mulu, Perhentian, Bohey Dulang, Tahan,
Korbu, Bako, Talang Talang, Uma Sambop, Tanjung Datu, Kinabalu and Sagil
and you at least need a group effort to ease the expenses.

Malaysia cannot compete because our spots are too far away from each other.
We don't have centralized minibuses that specialized in transporting tourists.
We don't have motorized taxi like Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.

The question is, will you fork out money just to accommodate tourist,
eg: Mulu airport is one of the example. Actual inhabitants forced to resettlement
Or uses this money for better use for locals like building roads, bridges, klinik kesihatan and schools

if i wanted to visit new places or rediscover places I've been,
i would watch these so called idiots

Nothing wrong with them.
They cater new people looking for what to expect in KL, Penang or Malacca.
They also cater locals who wanna see how foreigner gets something wrong about their place
so that they can correct them and feel superior keyboard warrior.

Even as me, a local tourist certainly watch their videos and wanna know what I've missed the first time I've visited Malacca

KL mmg boring as a tourist place. But as a place to live, I think its second only to Singapore if money is unlimited for you. If take cost into consideration, might even be better than SG.

The fact there are Arabic restaurant is one thing.

There are also Bangla restaurants. These restaurants aren't usually popular among Malays, usually their customers are other banglas.

Those Arab restaurants in Bukit Bintang are popular among Malays. They charge top dollar for their food and its jam packed.

Well, no one talks about the Korean and Japanese culture boom in BB, right?
Only the small patch of Arab corner in BB.

Purdah itself is a Hini-Urdu-Persian word

QUOTE
Pardah or purdah (from Hindi-Urdu پردہ, पर्दा, meaning "curtain") is a religious and social practice of gender partition prevalent among some Muslim and Hindu communities.[1][2][3][4][5] It takes two forms: social partition of the sexes and the requirement that women cover their bodies so as to cover their skin and conceal their form. A woman who practices purdah can be referred to as pardanashin or purdahnishan. The term purdah is also used in English as a metaphor to describe practices such as the pre-election period of sensitivity occurring in the weeks leading up to a general election or referendum.[6]

Practices that restricted women's mobility and behavior existed among religious groups in India since ancient times and intensified with the arrival of Islam.[7] By the 19th century, purdah became customary among Hindu elites.[7] Purdah was not traditionally observed by lower-class women.[8]

Where is your ARAB culture here?

Most of Islamification of old Malaysia comes from Indian traders and only a fraction of it are from Yemenis.

Afghan is not Arab, they speaks Pashtun,
Pakistan is no Arab, they speaks Urdu
Iranian are no Arab, they speaks Farsi

face covering is widely used in all ancient cultures including the west.
Where u think wedding veils came from?

A lot of foreigners especially from the Western world said
that Kuala Lumpur is soulless, boring and not much things to do.
Often in comparison to Bangkok or HCMC.
Singapore is also boring to them.

Now we all know it is just an euphemism for the absence of
cheap alcohol,
avaibility of drugs
and free sexual experience.

Now, my question -
HOW DO WE MAKE KL NOT BORING TO THEM

Of course, excluding the above activities.
We don't want LBH, passportbros or pedos on our streets anyway

by getting immigration raiding their hotels, and forcefully detain them and hold them in detention centre for one night, and let them go....baru la tak boring kan

Then you must visit Jakarta.

I went to one famous spot, last time it was a hotel before got raided and closed around 2015.
You go there, it looks like a fancy 5 star hotel bar/lounge.
Got open jacuzzi and pool next to the bar.
Once u in, a pretty mama-san will talk to your entourage,
then girls come to you in a lineup based on their region
First CN, then TH, then VN, then local, and last is Uzbek/Kazakh.
No one looks like a maid or works in a farm.
If you chosen one, she will go and change into a bikini and bath you in one of the jacuzzi nearby, WITH SOAP!
Then the rest you know lah. All in private rooms nearby.

Yeah, simple question - Malay wear purdah because of religion or because of culture?

Popularization of Arab food because of culture or religion?

Buka puasa slowly replaced Arab words like iftar is because of culture or religion?

Malay wedding ceremony is vastly different from a few decades ago, is more of Arabic than traditional Malay

I'm not sure if KL is really boring. Each has their own taste. Some like party, some like shopping, some like nature etc.
But I've been seeing more and more Youtubers from around the world especially China settled down in KL.
It depends on what you think is exciting or boring. But for a fact, KL is among the best place for living.

nope, you're wrong.

Malays doesn't do all the old things like merenjis, buang peraja, mandi bunga, using batik as floor mat
because syirik and it follows hindu ceremony.
They becoming more educated in Islamic rules rather than blindly follow tradition.

If they follow Arab culture, there should be segregation of the guests, dancing, swords etc.
That's Arab's wedding.

source: I was a wedding photographer for 10 years. U think u can bullshit people?

I also cover Indians and Chinese wedding if you want to know.
Some Chinese puts coins under floor mats,
some are very particular on the timing of the big brother coming to house
playing games with the sisters, the tea ceremony list who goes first
I even went to India to cover Indian wedding.
So I know what Indian women wears.

What a dumb argument, u are clearly dumb, talking from your ass

Do you think the replacements words solat, musollah, wudhu is Arabification rather than Islamification?
If you meet a fellow Non Malay Muslim who doesn't speak Malay, which word makes more sense in conversations?

"let's go to surau so that we can sembahyang and buka puasa" OR
"let's go to Musollah so that we can do Solat and Iftar"

It is to make the conversation universal rather than regional

I rather choose boring than feeling unsafe.

I don't know why TS feels that drinking and partying cultures are something to be proud.

So many death and crimes happened when people visited that kind of places. There's nothing good anyway from that place

That's the last place I want to die

Dancing and drinking is part of heritage and traditions in many countries and cultures.

Many snatch thieves in many places in broad daylight, what day you.

We are not talking about Malays talking to non Malaysia Muslim.

We are talking within a Malaysian context.

No one scream Arabification if you use internationally Arab terms to speak to non Malaysians.
