All my life I could get a phys license without needing to jump through hoops until this dumfuk gov.

In alot of countries you just need you physical driving license to drive as a tourist/short term. No need IDL. IDL is just a translation document.

Apparently the reason behind this is because only Singapore recognizes our jpj digital license and the rest of the world don't. Even good kiwiland still issues me a physical driver license that last for 10 years. Who in the world would accept your digital license from a dodgy app?

Wait, the main point of argument here is you can't get physical copy now if renew your driving licence, but if you driving overseas (with proof like air ticket), you can apply for one?

I don't really see the problem here..... I mean, if the police were to stop you overseas while driving, they will want to see your physical (overseas) one rather than digital... or am I missing something here?

Last time we apply for Spore driving license using our physical Malaysian license in the 90’s. The Spore gov will pinch a hole into our Malaysian license after the issued us a Spore license. So we have to report our driving license was ‘stolen’ and issue a new Malaysian driving license. I do not know if this still applies for Malaysians applying for driving license in Spore using our Malaysian license. 😂

This physical is only for ppl that required to drive overseas

Actually I don't know why Anthony Loke and JPJ are so adamant on this physical/digital licence issue. What's wrong with us having a physical card driving licence?

Speaking of driving license,

I went to my friends house last week over dinner. He live in a condo. So we went there, register with guard, and guard is asking for driving license. Told the guard we dont have physical driving license anymore, but he insisted. I understand he is a foreigner and may not understand our policy, so i asked to talk to supervisor. Guess what, the supervisor is also another foreigner who dont even understand malay or english. They asked for IC, which I reluctant to give. Bising punya bising, in the end i gave them my CIDB card and told them its my another ID.

I keep my expired driving license in the car for this purpose.

If you go oversea and you want to drive u need physical license. Digital licence only accepted in Malaysia. Previously I want to drive to Thailand I went to jpj to apply they want to see my passport and hotel booking or some proofs to show you are going overseas and u need physical license.

The agrement with Thailand will be formalised in the Asean summit

The roadtax thing i dont like to do at myeg since got delivery fees + service charges. Cost even more than the roadtax itself. Also since got 4 cars renewing roadtax throughout the year last time means 4 trips to post office + trip to book store to laminate the roadtax disc and paste at windscreen

As for going to Thailand. still can request physical license. Managed to get my physical license last month. I went to Hatyai. HAd to show them travelling proof.

Its funny you mentioned that …inside the video you shared, the Thai police clearly said they accept both digital and physical license.

But also advised to print it also as not all officers are aware of this new arrangement.

Hence why the Asean summit Malaysia will try to formalise the agreement so that Thailand can ensure all their policeman accept it.
