I remember when I was young, my friends are like my world. How they view me is important. We have fun together. Go out often, home is boring.

Now that I have age, I couldn't care less what others think of me. I am most happy in my own space and can find fulfillment myself. I prefer alone time.

I think usually is because they developed some underlying illness or socially awkward conditions due to old age. If still healthy and fit with confidence and still can competitive/piaps, whats there to avoid regardless of age.

You don't really avoid all people as you age.

You try to avoid STUPID people the older you get because you realize it's just a waste of time and energy.
*
i don't think it's about avoiding "stupid" people, it's more like you regard people who don't share your values/view points as stupid, i.e. you don't have any energy to entertain differing viewpoints anymore.

older people tend to be more conservative/conforming, and young people more liberal and want to try new things/become contrarian.

I actually feel like connecting with old friends back, since my kids is getting "older" and need less attention from me.

And you'll realize the old friends of yours are not the friends that you knew back then

The older I get, I want my peace and quiet .. of course at times; my same "internal close circle" of friends will always meet up for gathering for bi-weekly ..

I don't think I have changed. experience, mindset + attitude are stagnant.
I think you need external forces to change you. I just don't expose myself to any external forces.

external force - incidents and life experiences

That's what I am afraid of too..

I did reconnect with my best friend in class few years, and like you said, we don't actually think in the same wavelength anymore. It's been more than a year since I last hang out with him, probably wouldn't see him much other than kenduri or hari raya.

Now my plan is to reconnect with my close friends in dorm (I was in boarding school), who mostly have the same personal interest with me.

1 thing that I noticed about myself other than avoiding people is I've no longer have interest to spend so much on craps that I don't even need in the first place.

Example, shop for clothes, pants or shoes. My clothes, pants are still in good condition. I've only wear them If I go out on weekend or on my offday. My sport shoes are still in a good condition.

I've no idea why many adults out there spending tons of money on every weekend buying craps that they already have at home.

When you read articles, books regarding overconsumption, over consumerism, minimalism, it changes a lot of your perspective when it comes to your spending.

During COVID time, this is called Social Distancing; it's good actually, avoiding toxic people.

I notice some reunions or office gatherings, tend to have Aunties that love to boast about their children work in overseas and married to ang moh.

Better to avoid. Not to attend to boastful gatherings.

or those toxic ones that tend to cucuk other people

As I grow older, I find my Bullahit Threshold getting lower and lower. Coupled with almost everyone constantly talking about the latest online theory, trend, news etc, on top of trying to convert you to their point of view, well it's a no brainer I like to spend time with myself.

Also, I notice people nowadays just can't seem to shut up and enjoy a campanionable silence. I blame this on the short attention spans most online sites like Tiktok/Douyin inculcate in people nowadays. They just can't be at peace with themselves.

That is not 100% correct. Some people need to around other all the time no matter what age. That's why they have gatherings. Got younger people just do not like to socialize and like to avoid other by giving excuses.

The older you get, the less free time you have to spend on socializing with people.

So very selective, only those that bring in the right vibe and mindset.

I don't have time to waste on listening to gossip, drama, bullshits and backstabbing.
