I like it when the employees treat me well and give me warm smile. It keeps me coming back and comitted to collect Bonus Link points. Petronas hires bangla and overweight aunties, nak masuk pun malas.

Used to pump Shell then change to Petronas and now Petron.

The best still is BHP and Caltex but hard to find the station.

I noticed a very odd thing about my Shell petrol station that i've been refuelling for the past many years. If i refuel on the weekends, my car will feel more powerful and have better milleage (approx. 15km/l). If i refuel at the middle of the week, my car will feel sluggish and have worse milleage (approx. 13.5km/l).

My tin foil hat theory is that the stations refill their tanks with fresh petrol on the weekends, and by the middle of the week, they will top it up with cheap additives so that their reservoir will last until the next refilling.

brother, fuel tanker come whenever their reserve tank is below 4000 L or expected lots of traffic which just happens to be weekends and as for the "cheap additives", thats huge conspiracy theory that never happens

BHP now you don't need to use the loyalty card (physical) anymore.
Mobile App: If you're using the BHPetrol eCard mobile app, you can either show the QR code in the app to the cashier to scan before payment at the counter, or if you pay at the outdoor payment terminal with a credit card, you'll need to enter the last 4 digits of your registered ID before fueling and then scan the QR code on the receipt using the app.

I'll always stand by saying BHP best but they don't accept AMEX.

My second alternative is shell and Petronas because both accepts amex.

If die die need fuel, Caltex is a great alternative. Petron... Nope.

i have try out different fuel for my Myvi, previously pump only BHP & Petronas/Shell, but after try out Petron, cannot go back to other fuel ady, even my GF can feel the different when she drive the myvi.

in shot, for term of power & responsive for RON95:

PETRON 95> BHP 95/ CALTEX 95 > PETRONAS 95 > SHELL 95

but for RON97:

SHELL VPR 97 > PETRONAS 97 > Others

i also notice that Petron 95 & BHP 95 can give me average 15KM/L in KL area, Shell & Petronas only can get below 14KM/L

Won't pump Shell or Petronas as both are the worst

I use petronas, by comparison i cannot feel any difference between petronas, bhp, petron, caltex.

but shell have the most underpower feeling.

Last time I use shell, for few full tanks then fill up with petronas can fill like instant powerup interm of engine response.

fuel economy I dunno never bother check one

Shell mixed petrol with water

RM54k payout after Porsche breaks down due to water in petrol - New Straits Times

KUALA LUMPUR: A Shell petrol station operator has been found negligent and ordered to pay more than RM54,000 in damages to a car company after water-contaminated petrol caused a Porsche Cayenne to break down.

The magistrate's court in Alor Gajah, Melaka, ruled in favour of Malacha Sdn Bhd which sued DMY and Family Sdn Bhd for supplying petrol allegedly mixed with water at its Shell outlet near Sungai Petai on Sept 30, 2023.

Magistrate Dr Teoh Shu Yee ruled that the plaintiff had successfully proven the petrol station was responsible for supplying fuel contaminated with water, which caused damage to the plaintiff's car engine.

According to court documents, the plaintiff's director claimed that the SUV lost its power and became damaged after refuelling with V-Power 97 petrol at the defendant's petrol station on Sept 30, 2023.

The car was then towed to the Porsche Service Centre and, upon inspection, it was revealed that the petrol poured into the plaintiff's car was contaminated and mixed with water.

On Oct 3, the same year, the defendant received an email from Shell Malaysia informing and attaching a complaint made by the plaintiff to the company.

The defendant later appointed a technician to inspect the Shell station for any signs of seepage or water leakage, but the inspection found no evidence of either.

The defendant also claimed that it did not receive any customer complaint after the inspection, up until the present time.

However, Teoh in her grounds of judgment, said the court found that the defendant had failed to show it had taken reasonable precautions, including providing a proper and quantifiable dipping report for the day of the incident.

"The defendant failed to provide any credible explanation or reasonable steps taken such as a complete dipping report from Sept 30, 2023.

"Instead, they relied solely on general assertions and photographs, with no proper quantifiable dipping records produced," she said.

The court also ruled that the Porsche Service Centre's technical findings were reliable, dismissing the defence's suggestion that the repairs were unnecessary.

"The only effective way to challenge the plaintiff's expert witness is by presenting rebuttal evidence from another expert… the defendant failed to do so," she added.

The court awarded RM48,568.05 for repair costs and RM6,000 for an independent adjuster's fee.

The court also awarded RM10,000 in costs to the plaintiff.

Lawyers Aiden Chan Chee Yuan and Kireshmaa Nair appeared for the plaintiff while Patrick Thong Chin Kwai and Cham Sin Bee represented the defendant.

let me educate you a bit on this....

Key Petrol Refineries in Peninsular Malaysia:

Melaka Energy Park (Melaka Refinery Complex): A major refinery owned by PETRONAS, located in Melaka, this complex is responsible for a significant portion of Peninsular Malaysia's petroleum product supply about 60%.

Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC): This large-scale complex in Johor, also part of the PETRONAS network, includes refineries, naphtha crackers, and petrochemical plants.

Petron's Port Dickson Refinery (PDR): Situated in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, this refinery produces a variety of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel.

Hengyuan Refining Company (HRC) Refinery: Located in Port Dickson, this refinery produces a range of petroleum products and is a key supplier to Shell Malaysia.

Petrol stations buy from their franchise owner.
franchise owner buys in bulk from nearest refinery, request refinery add their "additives" before delivery.
so basically refineries knows the secret sauce of each brand.
end of the day what brand you use doesn't really matter if you're a ron95 only user.
just find the one more convinient and have reward system that suits you.

Real life experience.

When once there were serious diesel shortage, the other petrol station I usually go to will keep saying no supply or can only pump RM20 only. But in super early morning when I pass that station, saw big truck pumping diesel, probably to resell to plantation.

The Petronas I then tried never have such problem. If they got supply, they never restrict you. Being pumping there ever since. Honest trader should be supported.

Like you said, most base fuel is the same but the "additives" package is different
Similar to engine oil, most base oil also similar source but difference also the "additives" package from different engine oil brand/seller.

Depends on owner, car driven and even engine oil type. If go into details some might even got real difference when use the correct combination, still remember Shell do promo about using their engine oil & fuel can come out more better performance results. You can ask ChatGPT & google about it, i got ask before and also got similar results. Thus why some people might feel certain brand fuel more better than another, i believe it also got some impact from different engine oil use in their rides.

the "additives are a secret" and without scientific backing.
so enjoy your placebo and chatgpt hallucinations.
the only tangible thing is rebates/points you get.
personally i choose petronas because the stations are usually in better condition, better toilets, points is straight forward and everywhere available.

*
Fresh gas from fresh Tanks/tankers will improve your gas mileage on that day of refilling .
G say..fresh Petrol 95 have optimal volatility and additive content right after delivery to the station. These additives (e.g., detergents) can enhance combustion efficiency temporarily, boosting the km per liter display. Over time (even within a day), fuel in the tank may lose some volatility due to temperature changes or minor oxidation, slightly reducing efficiency

As for me i always get better gas mileage immediately after top up gas full , and doing a 200km highway drive. trip to hometown . i easily get above 20km/L on the ativa. with ave speed at 95 / drive report from ativa display

yes ALL gas are NOT the same . to say otherwise means you not done your research . just bs talk.
Petrol companies add different Additives . Some have been tested, proven better. with data . not just Ads talk .
same all EO sae W20 are not the same performance

i consistently get the best gas mileage with BHP . tried petron , petronas , shell , caltex.

i have try out different fuel for my Myvi, previously pump only BHP & Petronas/Shell, but after try out Petron, cannot go back to other fuel ady, even my GF can feel the different when she drive the myvi.

in shot, for term of power & responsive for RON95:

PETRON 95> BHP 95/ CALTEX 95 > PETRONAS 95 > SHELL 95
but for RON97:

SHELL VPR 97 > PETRONAS 97 > Others
i also notice that Petron 95 & BHP 95 can give me average 15KM/L in KL area, Shell & Petronas only can get below 14KM/L

the "additives are a secret" and without scientific backing.
so enjoy your placebo and chatgpt hallucinations.
the only tangible thing is rebates/points you get.
personally i choose petronas because the stations are usually in better condition, better toilets, points is straight forward and everywhere available.

There are a list of chemical relate to it, if you believe all petrol station formula is same then is your choice. The only thing i believe is the same across is the octane rating, but the rest chemical/additives inside some might add more or reduce some % to cater their own formula.

As a long term user of Caltex, im kinda struggle to bash them with this post, i like techron as it really works.

But too bad Caltex and Petron secretly add MMT (Methylcyclopentadienyl Manganese Tricarbonyl) AKA Octane booster. I hate this things which will coat on o2 sensor and cause false reading, the worst case clog catalytic converter.

Im using either bhp or petronas now for the peace of mind.
Shell has some additive like we turn on eco mode, too lean for my liking😮‍💨

Disclaimer, above statement was base on personal experience on ron95, does not comfirmed to all the stations.

Spark plug was not a big deal, it's powder like Manganese which is metal will clog catalytic converter and disturb reading of o2 sensor.

I also hope it wasn't MMT, but doing tons of research im very disappointed they added it secretly.

It was banned by most countries due to environment concern.

Only company with cheap fuel quality will use it for example making 91 to 93/95 fuel.
