QUOTE(MR_alien @ May 7 2025, 05:34 PM) don't think this is a US thingy or a currency thingy well its the whole culture of east asia. all of the developed countries all have swimming classes in school it's the way of their education that's different from us the best education in the world, we can't accept it nor it would be able to execute here because we can't accept no exam, we can't accept no homework, no tuition, we also can't accept no A in the exam our parents prolly also cannot accept their kids going here and there everyday doing something else that's not studying our daily school day is basically push and catch up with syllabus If you look at China, they have the gaokao, everyone striving to do well in that exam to enter university. Its make or break, if not do well, cannot go to better uni, future is ruined. I think the ex education minister tried to promote that, as his kids at a time was studying in UK schools, and he caught hold of the idea. But there were a lot of resistance here. It would be good if our schools teach swimming. But as you know, we can't even ensure safety of kids being sent to school by bus (as some kids were left behind in school vans forgotten to be baked under hot sun and died), leave alone being managed to swim in our school swimming pools. Can imagine the amount of negligence from drowning. |

QUOTE(MR_alien @ May 8 2025, 08:30 AM) and yet they have one of the worst education system in the world until they have to cheat those english certification like TOEFL like that of those cert require them to go oveseas but many of the holder never even been to overseas and they can't even speak or write english but they hold those certs on hand now that became a huge scandal in HK thn those who managed to go overseas to further studies suffers culture shock when they learn their education system is completely different sometimes no need to go far, even u go japan...high chance you'll see their students outside and not inside school going somewhere as a class...developed countries don't push syllabus in order to succeed Well when you have 1.4 billion people, you really have no choice but to offer a "trial by battle". Since we live in east asia, unfortunately, the trend appears to be going that way. Spore may boast the best education, but the stress to do well is there. Parents so kiasu, that they drill their kids to become math whiz kids, can do 102434454548 x 1332454 / 22324343 Sq root = ??? mentally. Its nice to have swimming pool, heck I don;t mind. But in the end, as you know Msia is well know for 1st class infrastructure but 3rd class maintenance. Soon will fall to disrepair. Also we can't even afford computers, to teach kids programming like what Thailand is doing, leave alone swimming pools. I may have a preference for Madani over PN, due to Puas horrible education policies, but Madani's education standards are pretty far from standard. They are silently want to kill Dr M legacy of Dual Learning Program. So to hope for swimming pools, hmm what to do? Gomen more prefer some mid east language education than swimming education. But then again if you have puas helming the education ministry, it be a nightmare to afganistan proportions. |
