QUOTE(diffyhelman2 @ May 6 2025, 03:05 PM) my understanding of a waqf is its an INALIENABLE property right, so how is it possible for the charsieu to have sold it in the first place? Don’t simply label charsiew. Was the land a family inheritance from much earlier generations? Did the person who donated the land inherited it or bought it? If a land was inherited thru multiple generations then one fella feel generous just donate it away, hence denying next generation from inheriting the land…who should be labelled charsiew? |

It's nice when everyone respect each other and do things in a civil way. Buyer just wants to be compensated fairly, state agrees to buy the land, seek donation to buy the land. All happy and peaceful. Except for that char siew that sold the land. Sure going get question what he did with the money. cassian948, keybearer, and 4 others liked this post

QUOTE(fongsk @ May 6 2025, 03:18 PM) Still a lot la, to be honest. This is donation ma. Temples usually only major events like Wesak, CNY, etc can have bigger donations. The rest more to donations from those philanthropists and companies. you dunno about churches and the weekly tithe bag been passed along the congregation every sunday service. sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit.I am not jealous or against this but in comparison to my Buddhist temple, this is a WOW amount. I really envy ! fongsk liked this post

I cannot understand how come the waqaf land can be sold. Maybe different law in Perak.
Even govt have no power to convert waqaf land status for other purpose |

QUOTE(desmond2020 @ May 6 2025, 03:20 PM) Church is almost same concept as the Muslim here. Every church goers will go very consistently every Sunday mass. And after the mass, everyone chips in the donations plus their monthly donations form salary(not sure if this is being practised here). Buddhist temples….if can get 100 people to go on weekends, can consider good liao…. Hahahaha. Pls don’t get me wrong. I am not criticising all these donations they come from the heart. I respect that. But that amount is like wow…. For my temple in SJBC. |

Nothing wrong with “western” interpretation of land ownership. U ok if u bought a house from developer and then developer said they adopt Middle East concept and the prop and land u bought from them is only under your custody? |

QUOTE(diffyhelman2 @ May 6 2025, 03:27 PM) you dunno about churches and the weekly tithe bag been passed along the congregation every sunday service. sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit. Oh, I do. Had this experience when I was in NUS. My roommate is a Christian and he invited me to attend Sunday mass one day. After the mass, they passed a bag around and everyone gave some donations or so. My roommate was nutty and asked me to ‘pretend to dip my hand into the bag as if I am adding cash” but said don’t donate. Hahahhaa… probably he knew I am not well off and are struggling to self fund my studies in NUS, then. It was a nice atmosphere in the church. Very calm and peaceful like all places of prayers. diffyhelman2 liked this post

QUOTE(Silfer @ May 6 2025, 04:13 PM) maybe just mulut cakap saja but black and white no do. so on paper the owner is the cina. My guess also. So technically it shouldn't be called wakaf land cos it wasn't one.typical kampung style of handling things if you ask me. show me the fb comments, should be got salahan cina somewhere there. Salahan cina itu pasti kek, but lagi salah the guy who sold the land against grandpa wishes. Grandpa farming pahala beyond the grave also you want to kacau. |
