Founded in 2024, Tara Gaming Limited is a new Indian AAA studio with an ambitious goal: to place India on the global map of high-end game development. Its first title, The Age of Bhaarat, is an upcoming action-adventure game that debuts with a striking announcement trailer. Featuring intense combat, mystical powers and a dark fantasy setting, the game immediately evokes comparisons to Black Myth: Wukong.



In The Age of Bhaarat, players step into the role of a forest guardian from Anandpur, tasked with protecting his homeland from the demonic Rakshasas. The game blends traditional Indian weaponry, spiritual powers and a grappling hook system to deliver a fluid and dynamic combat experience. The trailer showcases a polearm that appears to resemble an Indian bhala, though specific details about the full weapon arsenal remain under wraps. Additional features include character customization, co-op gameplay and an open world filled with ruined forests, perilous mountains and mythical sites – all brought to life with stunning visuals, likely powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Big names, big ambitions
The project is backed by prominent figures: Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan brings cultural gravitas, bestselling author Amish Tripathi, known for the Shiva Trilogy, lays the narrative foundation and former Ubisoft developer Nouredine Abboud (Ghost Recon, among others) leads the technical direction. United by a shared vision, the team’s goal is clear: to make The Age of Bhaarat the first title from a studio founded on the principle of "Create in India" – aiming to deliver culturally rooted AAA games developed entirely within the country.

First reactions: Skepticism, criticism and cautious hope
The Age of Bhaarat has sparked mixed reactions on Reddit, where it's currently a hot topic of debate. While some users praise the game's visual appeal and ambitious scope, many remain skeptical. Critics point to "clunky" combat animations and a perceived lack of gameplay innovation. The frequent stylistic comparisons to Black Myth: Wukong are often less than flattering, with concerns that The Age of Bhaarat risks becoming a mere “reskin” rather than establishing a distinctive identity of its own.
