How you know the company won't charge the employees for all that? Many H-1B horror stories where supposedly the salary of the H-1B is the same as American worker, but then company charged them kao kao for rent so in reality the H-1B worker actually paid less than American worker.
It is normal as migrant, the salary is a bit lower than local.
Anywhere local will get some preferential treatment benefits
Deswai they move production to India. But last time got many riots in Indian factory. Indian slaves not as guai as Chinese slaves.
but US wants the iphone production in US, as mentioned by lutnick.
they want the advance job, but TSMC is considered one of the most advance jobs in the industry, but they still complain.
actually this has cause some conflict with with taiwan employee too, coz they are also working in US but they had to work overtime to help other american employee job scope, while the american employee even if they work overtime, most of the time they dont do any productive work, due to being unhappy doing overtime.
diffyhelman2 last time you were paid less than your American colleagues?
no. thats illegal. most of the horror h1b stories involve bharat owned outsourcing contractors. but even legal h1b workers are disadvantaged compared to natives due to lack of mobility (harder to change jobs). thats the appeal of foreign labor everywhere including in malaysia (eg bangla workers and pinoy maids are prefered since they cant quit easily compared to locals).

tsmc factory workforce in arizona at one time consisted almost half are taiwanese imports. then again this is during setup phase (another article mentioned a lot of installation work going on), long term mgmt there does not see this as sustainable. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tsmc-arizona...-202539724.html

“We want to make this site a successful site and a sustainable site,” according to Richard Liu, director of employee communications and relations at the Arizona site. “Sustainable means that we cannot keep relying on Taiwan sending people here.”

I think that's just overblown. US has 3 shift 24 hour plants for cars (so does europe) and wafer fabs from Intel too. its just a different way of management that would likely involve more workers and more shifts. of course there will be some efficiency loss during shift handover compared to the same guy grinding away at the problem until its fixed.

One fella say angmo cannot 996, another fella say Chinese factories all automated liao. Why China still have poor people? Fake Falungong videos?
