Drove within safe speed limit and distance.
My car lights are on so I'm visible
Sudden torrent of rain and a patch of water caused skidding

Front Tyres are Goodyear ATM while rears are Dunlops, both relatively new (less than 2 years) & threads are thick. Only drive less than 15k per year

Car no ESC nor ABS as well as being FWD, all use defensive driving techniques learn at Aus tried turning before nearing the van, no mas. ie dun slam on the fukkin brakes, feather brakes and throttle together-gether

No audio to Cam cos..... It was cheapo no brand one. Had to physically take out the MSD card to transfer

Heavy rain yet sticking to the right most lane is a recipe for disaster. Lots of ponding and potential waterfalls caused by opposite traffic.

Doesn't matter what tyre you're using, when heavy rain, slow down and move to left or middle lane if your car doesn't have ABS.

Tyres are good... the issue here is the weight of the car. It's light and tend to float with big puddles of water and when there is a layer of water on the road. . No solving this other than go slower... now that you know your car's limit (without good active / passive safety system), just be careful...

Flip if you steer wrongly.
Aqua, release all foot pedal, hands hold firm.

You replied 80-90 km/h, true not fast.
Check your so claimed 2yo tyres (the print on tyres, maybe 3), harden? Thread direction (water drainage).

Some genius install in/outside terbalik

I think it's oil on road.

You can see some cars at the side of the road, perhaps they already skidded previously

Tyres are good... the issue here is the weight of the car. It's light and tend to float with big puddles of water and when there is a layer of water on the road. . No solving this other than go slower... now that you know your car's limit (without good active / passive safety system), just be careful...
*
Tires also play a big role. Those good tires big proper big water grooves will have better performance on wet road. U take those cheap economy tires for jimat fuel, the grooves are very small and not design to disperse water well because its more design for longevity of the tire and fuel economy.

Ts, dunlop brand usually low end one. Can tell me exactly wat tires u using now, i recommend 1 level up for u.

Inb4 better buy China performance tyres
*
Me, I put in cheap tires in the RWD car, so can slide it around in the wet as the wet grip is totally rubbish.
Even taking off in the wet can slide the car like those F1 car, tire spin but the car dun move.
the joy to drift in slow speed and not lose control
as the tire almost off, thinking of changing to cheap UHP now. Expert told me better to use cheap UHP than same price range branded eco tires.

If you have one car, than need to have good tires for all rounded use.

Yup...
All change ady last year those dog bone 2 long 2 shorts are all ori proton

Multi link/ stabilizer were torn so were replaced as well on both sides
Ball joint still tight
Power steering bushes well know to be loose but still good (ori dun last) / tie rod still tight too

Rear bearings replaced in both side early this year, one side started a very very minute hum, didn't want to take chances so replaced both

I already mentioned so many times here, get the best tyre you can afford if possible. Dont stinge on tyres. And dont listen to idiots who say 'buy cheap one and change more often is safer'. Call them go f themselves.

Tyres are the only thing get in contact with the road when you are speeding. Not familiar with 15in and below tyres, but i believe michelin xm2 or conti uc6/7 should have size for 15in. These 2 are far better than the 2 junks u using.

Car no ESC nor ABS as well as being FWD, all use defensive driving techniques learn at Aus tried turning before nearing the van, no mas. ie dun slam on the fukkin brakes, feather brakes and throttle together-gether

TS, my case same like you.
But my case was driving >80km/h during heavy rain in middle lane.
Then suddenly lost control but the car head stirred very right, then same action as yours, turn the sterring left and right left and right.
But still bang into divider and thank god, no massive accident.
Just the front rim heavily scratched as it banged the divider.

One thing I learnt is never fully trust your tyres. Instead, it's better not to trust your tyres so you drive even slower and more carefully in bad weather.

And everyday few dozen people die on the road .

Ts can very proud claimed defensive driving, some more very proud to upload dash cam video......

Please do yourself a favor for your family, for other road user like us,

If you driving junk car with cheap rubbish tyre
Go stick behind the lorry at the left lane

Just wait the rain stop
Just be little bit patient

Before you claim yourself are defensive driving

Thank you
Hope you have a nice holiday

And ts keep on emphasize defending he is within speed limit.

If you really understand what is defensive driving, you will know that the speed limit is just the guidelines,it's not the bible

And speed is relative in physics.
For your condition, this speed is fast , for other might be safe
So now you will ask, how to judge what speed is deem as fast for you?

If the speed you are cruising now,is not able to let you handle situation like example In your very own video,
Then you can conclude that :

This speed ,in this situation,is considered FAST to you.
Because you hardly can handle it

Hope you understand the logic behind this
Hope you have a wonderful holiday

Ayamz dunno ler bhai... haven't used before...

i think if you drive car long enough with the same type of tyres, you should be able to understand the tyres characteristics. then when you change tyre you would know what is lacking or what is more. Tyre is just one part, the weight of the car also is crucial. Too light of a car with good tyres also is useless. With good tyres 1.3tan above you cruise in rain at 80-100km also still can feel the road quite ok. But you cruise in a kancil at 80-100 with that same heavy rain prolly will hit the rail and fly off...

I think lighter cars should go more "sotong" tyres as possible.. meaning more thinner tyres so no chance for water to accumulate underside of tyre when driving.

Reason why i say PS and EF1 tyres are good overall coz :

Goodyear ATM2 ftw and slow down in heavy rain, hitting standing water not only causes aquaplaning and loss of steering control, if deep enough, it will rip off bodywork like parts of the undertray. True story.

Nope, best wet tyres I have had.
Always be careful with standing water, you don’t really know how deep it can even on the highway.

In term of 15in, thats the best. U dont expect performance tyres like ps5 to be at 15in.

Same feedback for Continental UC6. Just junk at wet traction. Only local YouTuber praise this junk model, their weakness of all SEA model are wet traction. Buddies of mine take MC6 last time, told similar performance as PS4, but just only dry had similarities but wet it just dont have a grip.

Ts, i faced this similar losing grip on wet when the brand new car is equipped with Continental UC6, change to Toyo CR1, marginally better for wet. No doubt Michelin model are better for wet, if got budget take that

Not many shops selling this already, at least in my area. And this is 2 gen older tyres, meaning at least 10 years old tech. Not sure if the compound/rubber is as good as those new tech tyres.

Besides ps3, any other recommendation?

Driving 110kmh even though its within the speed limit is not safe during heavy rain.

Slow down to 80-90kmh for safety regardless of traction control or not.

If you're skidding just from braking like that, you're not driving within safe speed

Slow down and continue driving until the next R&R, plus continue praying not to meet defensive drivers approaching from the back.

In the video, there was a black vehicle stop on the road shoulder with hazard lights on for reasons unknown. If I am a tired lorry driver, I will surely and unknowingly ram into the back of the vehicle on the road shoulder.

Ts, if got a budget, please take decent tyre models, skip those eco-friendly tyres cz they're not grippy at the wet. Take a look at tyres with Traction AA rating, instead of A rating.

inb4 good feedback for Michelin PS4 at wet, but this is not a green light to drive fast at wet.
