yes, that time housing loan interest is damn high, that is why property price back then remain stagnant or little growth

until after 1998, the number pumping begin
*
The real high jump for property price is Najib time.

Serious, he is devil.

Free tax + 0 down payment + 1.5% to 1.75% bank interest. Go office n sign paper, you own a property already.

I believe those who are age around 40 to 50 with a lot of property are buying on Najib time.

Those miss out, omg......

House yes. Food and services maybe, I argue that it has increased but not to the scale of other global prices. Say watching a movie for example, it's still cheap in Malaysia compared to China or Singapore or even Bangkok.
*
it is always relative to salary not global prices.

I remember chicken rice being RM1.80 in the early 90s. The same shop(obviously different owner) now in my housing area, cost like rm11 now.

about 600% increase.

They have less commitment in housing , insurance, children education.

In the past my parents used to say how lucky the current generation is.

I told them my monthly expenses for children daycare, bus fare, education etc can buy 6 terrace houses in PJ in the early 90s.
My yearly insurance payment is equivalent to a yearly 1 PJ house loan installment in the early 90s.

They never dared to complain after that.

and not to mention the competition our generation have in the working world, last time our parents generation compete with another 10 more ppl, but today our generation is competing against 100 to 1000 people or more for the same job

our parents generation, got a degree or diploma already can get a very good job and guaranteed bright future ahead for them, but now our generation got degree also not guaranteed a good job and have to go do grab foodpanda etc

70, 80 time, 1 acre of farm land is RM1k or below only.

Those with Car, House (City), Color TV, Computer n study foreign is rich.

Those day bank interest is very high.

Salary few hundred only.

With thousand salary mean you are on top already.

Eat out per bowl or plate also 5 or 10 cents only.

Now, thousand thousand salary also money not enough.

Too much of entertainment already.
*
the land price of 1K is not applicable to Selangor unless very rural
my grandfather bought 2 acres and it cost 11 thousands in end of 70s

The property value spike up is not because of Najib
The 2008–2009 U.S. stock crisis led to the launch of Quantitative Easing (QE) to stimulate the economy, which eventually diluted the value of money and contributed to a spike in property prices in Malaysia.
