Nowadays with Netflix and other app and streaming website, still got ppl torrent? I see BT website mostly gone already with RARBG. China ppl likes to use their own version of cloud storage "pan".
*
Enshittification, subpar encoding etc. Any streaming services can take away any of your wanted shows anytime they want. Why bother when I can just download my own linux ISOs and use my own hardware to keep only what I plan to watch. You pay for NF monthly, how much shows on it you're actually watching and interested?

Free streaming websites is full of ads, sure you can watch a movie there, but the experience won't be good and limited platform availability (Watching on a smart TV such as LG/Samsung) is annoying to say the least.

RARBG is the only big "public" tracker that's gone, 1337x etc still around. Private tracker scene is still going strong (IPT, HDHome, TorrentDay, FileList to name a few). Getting into major/non niche private trackers isn't too difficult just fyi, you just gotta be ready to seed.

Any drive is susceptible to takedowns, if the link gets found, studios just send a request and the link is gone.

Pan is only meant for China IP and China users, downloading from overseas is practically impossible unless you're using some rate limit bypasser or just buying membership to download.

As kwss put it, at most you will have 1-5ms extra ping to servers.

I’ve been on 30Mbps CGNAT, and currently I’m on 2Gbps. My ping on Valorant to Riot SG’s AWS servers back during 30Mbps is around 14-16ms, now on 2Gbps, it’s around 10-13. I’m based in Johor just fyi. But even that is inconsistent as it’s depending on the end point, some servers was good some servers was bad.

But that doesn’t really matter with CGNAT, you think TM hasn’t done any optimization to their connection to serve end users? End users would be mad as hell if they’re deploying CGNAT without proper routing internally as the lower tier subscribers all be experiencing degraded connectivity and experience. And generally a normal user won’t be able to tell any difference if they’re under CGNAT or dynamic.

Personally the only issue I’ve found with CGNAT is more susceptible to CAPTCHA as some others users sharing the same public IP might have been abusing the IP, hence making other users face more CAPTCHA. Other than that, it’s basically the same experience as the higher tier plans from TM.

What a great time to introduce XGSPON when everyone who should have it as part of FSU got put on their shitty GPON.

Anyone on XGSPON now with last mile latency of 1ms or even 0ms? Early adopter should have extremely low last mile latency as nobody is sharing the wavelength yet.

I am also disappointed it didn't come with SFP+ port. Enterprise or Telco grade router almost never come with 10G RJ45 port.

So i guess this stick is the way to go:?

Seems to have an active modding community too.

I highly doubt TM's gonna roll out XGS-PON in general to that many area that fast. If we're talking about nationwide rollout of new BE router using XGS-PON, the only area I'd wager is XGS-PON ready and potentially backwards compatible with GPON is probably Selangor/KL area in general. Maybe it's just a modified TM specific version with GPON instead of XGS-PON.

Although I'm glad to be proven wrong, Johor area here and hoping that XGS-PON is already in my area so that I can get actually decent performance out of SFP ONU by being able to use XGS-PON ONU under a different OLT.

Same issue here with Singtel HKIX exchange, GF connecting to my locally hosted MC instance is like 250-300ms ping for some reason.
Local route all within 50ms but the moment it hits Singtel's 100G LACP IX, instantly shoots up to >300ms of ping.

Maybe ingress issue but atp I've just given up on fixing it and just told her to try and use VPN to bypass the route

Mmm fair enough, can get behind throwing money at networking gear tongue.gif
But yes, we're definitely not priced fairly for our fibre plans. Even our neighbour up north got gigabit plans starting ~RM80 sweat.gif
Learned a bit more from your post, thank you happy.gif

But still, what do you use your internet bandwidth for? ~2TB is insane ngl  shocking.gif
*
Also definitely on the same boat here as kwss, I like to throw money into networking just to chase the fun of it. Tho he does pay for a cheaper 2Gbps package compared to mine.

Self hosting linux ISOs eats up bandwidth like no other. I'm also on the same boat of around ~2TB daily, it's only 11th of July now and I'm already at 24TB of usage.

Fair enough. I believe my yearly usage reaches 24TB, yet yall here are doing that on a near weekly basis hahaha

Linux ISOs is kinda secondary, mainly I still use it to play with services I find interesting.

Like that 24TB, 90-95% of it is probably all hosting traffic, rest is my own house usage

Looks like Singtel finally fixed peering with TM, instead of routing through their HKIX site, it's routing to a local Singtel SG instance

use ux7 cannot get the max speed i dont know why...
*
Turn off IDS/IPS, it severely hampers performance.

It even slows me down on my UDM SE. The tiny UX7 definitely needs all the headroom it can get to hit 2Gbps

Also are you using bridge on D-Link/Skyworth ONR? Your speed is definitely faster than my 2Gbps

Guys genuine question, does Malaysia have any restrictions for 6GHz wifi? Because I keep seeing major router brands like Asus, TPLink always bringing out Wifi 7 but Dual Band.

Also is Xiaomi router a good choice for Wifi 7 ? The BE3600 one. Been wanting to try Wifi 7 router but other brands are super expensive.

Mercusys looks painfully cheap although TPlink is the mommy for this.

These are the channels of 6GHz that are allowed in Malaysia. Only low band 6GHz and not high band.

You can check here if TM advertise your prefix to SingTel
https://stixlg.singtel.com/

Looking at your trace, it seems not.
Your IP block is being load balanced to France

Your only choice is:
1. Keep reconnecting PPPoE till you get a prefix that's advertised to SingTel.
2. Change telco. This behavior is expected and a side effect of load balancing.

Say you do get a new IP block that's working with SingTel, it might still break with other endpoint.
*
Yeah I plan to just keep rebooting my ONT tonight or tomorrow to get a new IP block. My old IP block of 115.135.x was going solid to overseas with like sub 20ms, but just shat the bed one day shakehead.gif

The new IP blocks I've been assigned to after PPPoE disconnected have been consistently worse than the old blocks

It's quite a Russian roulette how long an IP block will behave consistently. Whenever the BGP optimization software perform a new optimization, what prefix gets advertised where, who gets prepending, etc are kinda random.

TM also have rate limiting for PPPoE reconnection attempt. Keep that in mind as you might just DoS yourself offline.

If your area just got IP renumbered, then prefix could be fixed, especially if you're from rural area. If this is the case changing telco is the only choice.
*
The current Unifi account is under my mom, I've been considering going to Maxis, will keep in mind

For rate limiting, I only do it every now and again, I think it should be okay, I'm targeting 180.72 if possible as iirc that's the best range for my area, but TM has been randomly assigning ranges I have never seen before, just gotta test it until I get something good. vmad.gif
