My Hisense 55" 4K TV is more than 7 years and still going strong but am doing some early planning just in case it suddenly decides to bite the dust and stop functioning. I bought the TV for around RM2.4k during sales time if I'm not mistaken.

For the new TV, I'm looking at a larger one, perhaps 65". Since we don't really watch movies a lot on the TV as it's usually only the news on TV3 and Chinese drama on NTV8, our expectations are not very high. However, when the need arises to pop in a 4K movie, it needs to look acceptable or good. I was just wondering what are the good or recommended brands or TV model these days. I've seen 65" TVs selling at various price ranges from RM3k+ to 5k or more. I don't need OLED.

Hisense, Sony, Samsung, LG, Sharp and more. So many brands. Which one would be your pick? Perhaps I'll do a poll but can't find a way to include one.

Mind to elaborate a bit more? Do you mean current models of Sharp and Toshiba TVs are not so reliable? Or are you referring to poor picture quality / software quality?

I am using a sharp 50" 4k smart TV. The youtube nowadays may or may not respond to command. Can launch it and play a video but if want to stop or change video then it becomes impossible. When tune to local TV, it'll work for 30 seconds~ before freezing. All these happened a few years after purchasing. For the toshiba 65" tv, we had it and i wasn't satisfied with the color/saturation/contrast and can't get a really satisfying pic quality no matter how i tune. It was too reddish for me. Then my kid cracked it and we changed to a hisense 65 android tv, which is jst around the same price as the toshiba. Lo and behold, pic quality is great and the android software is smooth and responsive. Only problem is the remote stopped functioning after getting dropped from chair height. Being an android tv, i was able to use my mobile to control it b4 getting a 3rd party replacement remote from shopee

Same. The volume control buttons on the remote of my Hisense TV can't be operated anymore so I got a replacement. Now some buttons selecting TV channels can't work on the replacement remote. Not sure why the remote is so fragile. Perhaps only exclusive to this Hisense model.

Just checked the Hisense 4K TVs on Shopee. I didn't know the prices have gone down considerably. FOr the E7N series, a 55" is only RM1.7k while the 65" RM2.3k. Damn, things are getting really cheap. I bought my 55" about 7 years ago for the price of a 65" today.

Yes, it's amazing. Just RM2k+ for a 65" TV. Back in the day, a 50" plasma TV costs RM20k. Times changed. biggrin.gif

Current TV is still working so haven't replaced anything yet. Will likely just take the Hisense, cheap and cheerful.
