Hi all,

I currently have 2 cars under my name (car 1 and car 2). Car 1 has full 55% NCD and car 2 only has 30% until end of this year.

I plan to sell car 2 (the 1 with less NCD) but don't plan to buy another car now. Will this affect car 1 (with 55% NCD)?

I suppose if I buy a new car (car 3) in the future (maybe 3 years later), the 30% NCD of the car 2 will be reverted back to 0 so my possible future car 3 will start with 0 ncd right?

Please help sifus

If not mistaken when you purchase car #3 can use ncd from car #2. Just make sure to keep a copy of insurance for car #2.

if not mistaken, after sold, NCD will be on hold for a few years , so if 30% will hold till you buy a new car and transfer that NCD over to it

NCDs are separate as per policy.

So if you sell your Car 2 which has 30% NCD, it will drop as per the increment. Say if you sell and didn't get new car, next year your NCD will become 25% only and by third year become 0%.

Why would NCD 1 be affected by selling car 2?

NCD without car will drop tier by tier, year by year

sell car #2 ; (u retain 33%) ... when you want buy new car...transfer NCD car #2 to car# 1 (so car 1 pay higher )

new car use full ncd..

u can retain ncd for max 2 yrs after sell.. so better buy within this 2 yrs

edit : I cant be sure 1 or 2 yrs now... after that the NCD is cancelled..for safe make sure register within 1 yr

old car if still keep (not selling) the ncd become 0%, coz 55% transferred to new car.

if old car policy not expired yet, example expiry date is october and u buy new car on july, recommended to go to counter (walk-in) of the insurance/takaful provider branch, top up the diff to old car policy (will be pro-rate), then they will issue a letter regarding that, bring the letter to new car insurance/takaful provider to transfer that 55%. easier if same provider.

usually (easiest way) is wait old car policy expired first, dont renew yet and go buy new car mentioned to sales agent to transfer the old car ncd.
after pay new car policy then only renew old car policy online.

Yes.
You can:
1) ask your SA to kowtim

2) contact your insurance company to "withdraw NCD". You will be asked to top up premium for old car. Your NCD can then be used for new car where you enjoy 55% for new car. The con of doing this is if your new car takes months to arrive and you withdraw ncd early, you rugi on old insurance

3) pay full premium for new car, then withdraw ncd + contact new insurance and get partial refund for new car insurance.
