Hi guys, Im lacking of ports on my TV. Im using the component ports for my PS2 and Wii which is an upgrade from the stupid RCA

I wonder though, if the VGA output for 720p is better than component of 720p. You know, the signal loss in the component etc.

The TV supports 1080p but only if the source comes from the DVI. My 360 is a falcon, thus it has HDMI output but I thought why bother(?), the native output of 360 games are 720ps anyway, some games upscale the output to 1080p but that makes no difference.

Thus I'm down to using the 720p, the only question is should I go with VGA or component?

p/s I havent got a wii, but this is a best case scenario. What resolution does a wii on RCA and a wii on component outputs to? I heard that the latter outputs to 480p, what about the former?

Thanks gais

Im using VGA and compare to the component which i did comparisons long time ago.. the VGA look more vibrant and crisp then component. Im not tech expert, just judging it with my perfect gaming eyes rolleyes.gif So ... there you go. Go for VGA it look better and the resolution is more. The best is 720p .. but if you have HDMI why dont you use HDMI port instead, that brings me out of my knowledge. (i dont even know how 360 HDMI port look like) cheers... thumbup.gif

im using the DVI port for my pc. I have no HDMI port. Both are pin to pin compatible, so if I want to run a PS3, id probably do it on the DVI, which is the only port on my TV to accept 1080p.

All the other ports, be it the 2 x components, the other DVI,and VGA only accept 720p. Of course, the other standard definition ports (RCA and S-cable) are too lame to be mentioned tongue.gif

I guess I will go for component for the 360 for the time being. It is after all the default cable that came with the 360. Once I decide to buy a wii, I will use component for it and get a VGA cable for my 360.

thanks

the component offers the best colors. VGA offers crisper and sharper images but normally washed out colors. either one should be sufficient enough for your gaming needs. HDMI however is the best there is (although not a major leap from VGA/component, but those with sharp eyes like myself will appreciate HDMI especially watching HD DVDs)

I wouldn't say it's 5x better, but yeah, it's slightly better with cleaner lines and deeper colors. That's how it is on my Samsung. smile.gif

Like you said, it's highly dependent on the TV set so in this case, YMMV.

I like lugging my 360 from the TV to my monitor and back again (read: banished from living room), but in both cases I noticed the same results. While the VGA output does result in crisper images, it's also kinda blurry compared to component. On component, colours are brighter, resulting in more vibrant images compared to VGA. My TV is the Samsung LA32R81B while my monitor is the BenQ FP241VW. Oh yeah, both my TV and monitor have VGA and component inputs, and my finding is identical on both the TV and monitor.
