Collector -v- Serious Collector...

Finally I now have a clear definition of the term serious collector.
I have been scratching my head for the greater part of a month wondering what the hell a "serious collector" was to the hobby. As I have been in the diecast hobby for a while now, I like to think that I am in the know when it comes to matters of the diecast collecting hobby - but the term serious collector just wasn't making me feel comfortable.
With the elitist attitude towards budget diecast models from some diecast collectors who much prefer a premium model to the lowly detailed and quality deficient budget models - I was beginning to believe that in order to be a serious collector you had to purchase only premium models.
To my asking on the DiecastXchange Community, they delighted me with some helpful dialogue to better explain what a serious collector was and meant to the diecast collecting hobby.
It's not about who has the most diecast models in their collection, nor is it about who spends the most on a single diecast model car or diecast motorcycle - it's about the enjoyment you get from each model through various aspects. Maintaining your collection from dust by dusting daily, occasionally polishing that diecast model that has been on display for some time, taking a photo to show the world by posting it on the Internet and most importantly, sharing your opinion about the hobby and various models.
The one mention that I find most comforting in all of these discussions about serious collectors is that - serious collectors who mentioned the aforementioned, enjoy a budget model equally as they do a premium model. How great is that for the budget brands.
So be that we have a lot of the aforementioned on forums, I guess DiecastXchange is made up of a community of serious diecast collectors.
For those select few collectors who turn their nose up at budget models, I guess that puts you in a different category. Perhaps a collecting elitist?!?!? I don't know. But from the responses, I can gather your missing out on a portion of the hobby - aka "budget models".
