somebody uses my email for their banking and subscription.

all his banking transactions and bills come to my mailbox.

this has been going on for many years.

this guy has the same name as me. i checked his profile in linkedin. i even tried to call him but no response.

could it be gmail problem? or this guy is just too lazy to put email address when signing up for anything?

for you to register or subscribe to amything with email or phone , you need to confirm that those account belongs to you.

Verification email or sms code would be sent to verify.

Question to you is how they manage to confirm verification of your account?

- Compromised phone?
- Sim jacked?
- Compromised email account?

If you're a victim of Identity theft, better make police report and go to banks to verify whether anything has been tagged under your name. Better check CCRIS CTOS also..

go to bank and complain to deregister the email.
how the guy got your email in the first place is a question.
if lucky, he just register. if unlucky, he got access also

how can he register bank account email without verification?

probably he just register the email, but choose SMS for verification instead ?

I have similar issue whereby my email is in the format of alpha.beta@gmail.com where alpha is my name and beta is my surname, however I did receive email which was address to alphabeta@gmail.com ie the address without the dot in the middle.

which bank are you using? normally online banking use mobile number(that is register to the account) and some otp for reset password. some bank totally disable it and you need call customer support to do it..

kawan... when you register something... and key in email,

you need to proof that email is yours... so they will send you a link to your email or a code to your email address...

you enter that code or click on that link to proof it's your the owner...

If Gmail, do you have โ€œ.โ€ between your address? It is likely because of this where someone registered similar address with or without the โ€œ.โ€

I have a feeling the bank was doing some data migration and cleansing.
Then somehow tour email got matched with another guy same name.

Another reason might be email validation was skipped during profile update processes

I think wrongly added.

I too received such emails. All because of Gmail.

For example.

My email is ABC.123@gmail.com

But that idiot used ABC123@gmail.com instead.

According to Gmail, ABC123@gmail.com is same as ABC.123@gmail.com too.

Yes, I've done that before when someone uses my email address. Manage to take over his Facebook and Instagram. But for banking definitely cannot, need to verify mobile number.
That idiot even uses my email to register Apple ID, but luckily Apple quite strict otherwise I would have reset and locked his iPhone.

Call Astro using the info in the bill, request to subscribe the most expensive package or request termination.

Iโ€™m experiencing the same issue. It seems that an older gentleman, who happens to have the same name as me, mistakenly assumed the email account was his. As a result, all of his transaction details are being sent to my inbox.

UOB and Public Bank donโ€™t verify whether the bank account actually belongs to the person. They simply accept whatever information is provided to them without proper validation.
