Getting Started

|
Ok, for nearly an hour after I topup the SIM card, it finally got connected! It appear that the either 500GB internet package or the less than RM10 credit was to blame. I don't think it was the low credit cause I had lower credit before and still able to connect to SG telco and receive SMS, also if the low credit is preventing me from 4G/5G connection, why connecting to MY cell towers at north part of SG worked? Somehow Hotlink is banning me from connecting to SG cell tower when the 500GB 30 days period is active. I would probably never buy any hotlink internet package since SG MVNO offer hundreds of GB data to use for both SG and MY--they are both treated as local data usage now. If I can get the bank app to use the phone as digital token, I would ditch this hotlink right away. [Ignored}After going back to Singapore, the Hotlink SIM could no longer connect to SG telco. I tested it on 2 seperate phones and SIM slots, when at Woodlands or Kranji where MY signal can transmit to SG, I can connect to Hotlink cell tower. This never happen before, I had this for nearly 10 years. could it be Hotlink purposely ban me after I bought the 500GB data package for 30 days? I even waited for the 30 days to expire and the active validity runs out, then topup to see anything change. NO! still unable to connect to any Singapore telco. Can Hotlink CSO tell me what's going on? This is unacceptable, I need the phone number for CC transaction SMS, otherwise I would have ditch this SIM to the bin. Why you screaming here like maxis actually checks the forum?
It’s really true the more Singaporean you are the more kiasu you get Jesus Christ
Already earning so much, just get the Maxis 149 for 30 day roaming la
Taking 500gb roaming package on prepaid sim and expecting proper service?
It is more likely your Singaporean network has banned you for abusing their local network while roaming and not the other way around
You say you’ve been there for 10 years? Don’t you have a local sim with “hundreds of gbs” and if you only need this hotlink for tac why do you care to buy this 500gb package?
Have you even tried to manually select the Singaporean networks before complaining here?

My bro in law has same problem previously when overseas, you need to make sure your prepaid line above RM10 to be able to roam (prereq). The roaming data package is riding on top of your line credit. If your line is barred to connect to their network during roaming, the data package also wont work. Reason why it works previously is perhaps a leakage, and now they fix the leakage?
I think not reasonable to able to roam and get sms overseas when prepaid below credit level, SG operator will charge MY operator for roaming resources… maybe a lot of people abuse previously and they find out …
Not sure they gonna backdate charge those abusers though …

Hotlink i have both, tested many time, it will never connected to SG roaming partner aka singtel. Umobile have no issue connected to roaming partner, also Singtel. even with low credit, or expired/inside grade period, umobile just work, Hotlink seems very doggy only will connect to maxis network... in SG! Maxis partner is now starhub. They remove singtel and m1 from the sms. Singtel network still can manually selected but not M1

Yes, as my Hotlink balance <RM10, I am unable to conenct to any telco (auto & manual) in SG. As soon as I topup and balance >RM10, it automatically connect to Starhub.

Do you guys keep a Malaysian SIM active and receive SMS in SG? I bought Hotlink 365 and keep my account >RM10. Now I have issues connecting to Starhub, have to manually connect to M1, which I thought was not Hotlink's partner in SG.
