Everything said, I think it’s the design of our highways that’s hugely at fault. The median between opposing traffic consist mainly of steel barrier or concrete which proves to be just tofu against heavy vehicles. May stop normal cars but hardly efficient against lorries/buses.
A wider median with a ditch in the middle not only would stop some encroachment but also acts as an efficient water drainage. Example would be dual carriage highways in Australia. You can see an example of this here at a small section between Dengkil & Cyberjaya. |
