If you're a salesman, running a life-dependent/saving organization or an real genuine HR doing recruitment, why do you want to hide your calling number?
Every call is a potential opportunity when your call recipient is eagerly waiting for that golden moment to answer your call.

Well if a genuine caller reveals themselves, other genuine recipient also will increase trust in you.

TrueCaller/WhosCall(monitored by PDRM/government agencies/telcos) does not force you to register your number if you don't want to, it's just added trust for real calling numbers to gain the trust of their recipients to pick them up.

The premium version even allows you to intelligently manage your incoming calls, block all unknown numbers not in your contact list, known top spamming numbers or even dismissing a few missed calls before accepting it.

You can always hide your number or avoid publishing it openly if you want it private, but expect the same treatment from with your recipients growing concerns with increasing scams might not pick up your call if they see it's an unknown number calling them nowadays.

Unless you are super paranoid keep a personal number strictly to your known contact list only, block all unknown incoming numbers/foreign country codes.
Tell no one about your number and keep a secondary "burner" number only for official work purpose that you provide to the public.

As for banking security, they did a good job ending SMS TACs which could potentially be phished from fake senders. Now all are app based which is equipment ID registered.

There's also the VoLTE option which you can disable and make your line data only. That will force anyone who wants to contact you could only do so via messaging apps which give you further control over which call you want to receive.

You think your number only leaks out via TrueCaller? The suspicion goes as far as form registrations, contest entries, ewallet purchases, submitted resumes and even national databases that got sold out to the dark web.

As said if you are highly paranoid and not those who are eager to take the call often, there's always the call divert for all unknown numbers which are not in your contact list or just shut off VoLTE with 4G.

There is nothing to hide if the number is an official contact/hotline from business entities and companies. It increases confidence of of the recipients to pick up the calls instead.
