Alvin Tan granted asylum in the US

PUTRAJAYA – A man who sparked controversy 12 years ago, Alvin Tan, has claimed that his asylum application has been approved by the United States (US).

In a recent Facebook post, Alvin, whose real name is Tan Jye Yee said that the approval came after spending several months in immigration detention in the country.

He said that he entered the US by surrendering himself at the Mexico-US border after his international passport was revoked by the Malaysian government.

"Initially, I fled to Singapore, then to the United Kingdom (UK) and later to Mexico.

"From Mexico, I walked towards the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, informing them that I did not have a passport or visa," he said on Wednesday.

He was subsequently detained and handed over to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), where he was given the opportunity to plead his case for asylum.

And he harshly criticized the Trump administration’s treatment of undocumented immigrants at the southern border, asserting that America had the capacity to “absorb people” while calling on asylum seekers to “surge” to the border

“We could afford to take in a heartbeat another two million,” Biden said at one event in August 2019. “The idea that a country of 330 million people cannot absorb people who are in desperate need and who are justifiably fleeing oppression is absolutely bizarre.”

These supporters of Alvin, seem to think that Trump is the one that gave him citizenship. But he was helped a lot by Biden. Trump on one hand, only implemented the below, he tak sempat to investigate the background of asylum seekers to know if they are of the right character to be granted the green card.

So its just a coincidence that he got it during Trump administration.

President Trump implements anti-immigration agenda
While the USCIS’s rule change has removed a potential obstacle towards securing Green Card status, Republican President Trump has otherwise sought to follow through on a hardline, anti-immigration agenda since returning to the White House last week.

What anti-immigration action has Trump taken?
Among a flurry of executive orders, Trump has declared illegal immigration at the US-Mexico border a national emergency, sending additional troops to the area “to support the activities of the Secretary of Homeland Security in obtaining complete operational control of the southern border of the United States.”

“America’s sovereignty is under attack,” the White House said in a statement on the day of Trump’s second inauguration as president. “Our southern border is overrun by cartels, criminal gangs, known terrorists, human traffickers, smugglers, unvetted military-age males from foreign adversaries, and illicit narcotics that harm Americans, including America.”

The Trump administration has also launched immigration raids across the U.S., as the Washington Post reports that officials at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been told to up daily detentions to over 1,000.

In a statement announcing raids in Chicago on Sunday, ICE said it was carrying out “enhanced targeted operations” to “enforce U.S. immigration law and preserve public safety and national security by keeping potentially dangerous criminal aliens out of our communities.”

Meanwhile, Trump has eliminated the CBP One app, a mobile application that granted around 1,500 daily immigration appointments to asylum seekers at the US border, allowing the migrants to enter the country legally while their request was processed. All existing appointments were cancelled.

Furthermore, Trump’s anti-immigration moves include an executive order that seeks to end birthright citizenship in the US. Defined by the American Immigration Council as “a legal principle under which citizenship is automatically granted to individuals upon birth”, birthright citizenship is seemingly protected by the US constitution.

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside,” reads the constitution’s 14th Amendment.

I would salute him even more, if he had more EQ.

To finish his NUS degree, become successful in Spore, then proceeded to USA.

He doesn't need to do all that. At what cost? He wasted 12 years of his life to expose something here everyone knows. He could have graduated Magna Cum Laude, then with his grades and smart talk migrate to USA become wolf of wall street, and throw money to striptease like what Leonardo Di Caprio did.

No need to hero worship him. Thank goodness for him that he got through.

Everyone knows USA immigration system was screwed up under Biden and his democrat predecessors: that's why Trump wants to overhaul it with Holman.

Even chinese people are walking to the border of Mexico with Latinos, upload App, then get free food, education and shelter to become citizens in USA. Even Amos Yee the declared fighter for PedoBears can get it. Cannot imagine la. Had I myself walked to the immigration border at Obama/Biden time, and then I do some instigation videos and gave proof of asylum, I also would have achieved what Alvin achieved lah.

No, I dislike the way you all hero worship him. He is just a normal dude that made a big mistake, no doubt he had enormous talent (not his dick), an ASEAN scholarship student, an undergraduate of NUS, but he screwed it up and used 12 years of his life, turn it into 12 years as an illegal immigrant (not 12 years a Slave movie).

What bola? What was the result? Did he do any change? None whatsoever. As I said, look at Mandela, Spartacus, Gandhi, they all paid a price to get their people's independence. No doubt none of these dudes are perfect, they got their own shortcomings, but a price they paid to get their people's freedom.
