Based on all surname Jetty, all their origin are from Tong'an, Quanzhou (now part of Xiamen).

The dialect difference between Penang Hokkien and Southern/Singaporean Hokkien are on county level, not prefecture level. All Malaysians are still Quanzhou Hokkien. flex.gif

most Malaysians Putonghua and Dialects are mixture of everything, a culture of Rojak

however Penang Hokkien and Taiwanese Hokkien that I listen to, most of them are quite similar

both uses the same word and same pronunciation 紅絳絳,烏趖趖,冷吱吱

Quanzhou Hokkien same as Xiamen Hokkien and Taiwan Hokkien.
Different from Penang Hokkien which is from northern Fujian.
I just came back from Nan'an, Quanzhou last year.

Only when your mother tongue is Taiwanese Hokkien 臺語 can easily differentiates the non-similarity with unique Pineng Hokkien (creole hokkien shared by Medan and Phuket hokkien speakers as well)
Agreed that Taiwanese Hokkien also infected by some japanese vocabulary.
