Why Ikea Shipping so expensive?

The shipping without assembly cost is RM172! Any hints or tips how to get a cheaper shipping fee. My car wont fit the furniture, fyi, so I can ship myself. Is it possible I get a lorry from lalamove/grab/etc and ask the driver to send to me?

Lalamove can do the job for you, based on personal experience. IKEA Cheras. Pickup point is right outside the cashier's lane

IKEA shipping is based on per truck load size. they dont do smaller trucks so their deliveries are fixed pricing

Will the driver and helper do that? I mean it will take a bit of time to load in IKEA, not to mention bad traffic there...

If it cant fit your car, then you prolly need to get van or lorry as well. Van or lorry for Lalamove also not that cheap either. If the price not much cheaper might as well just stick to Ikea own delivery, lesser hassle.

Outsource lorry driver outside then and see if it's worth the price. I believe the price for that IKEA delivery already includes loading in and put into your room.

and also from IKEA:
*No lift access fee for floors 3, 4 & 5 RM 98 (we are unable to deliver beyond floor 5 with no lift)

For lalamove you have to pay extra charges for door-to-door

no. assemble is addon. price is 10% of the item.
example: you bought a RM100 table. assembly fee is RM10.
this assembly fee exclude wall drilling. I think RM8 per hole.
example: you bought a RM10 shelf with 2 brackets. you want them to drill 4 holes on the wall so you can screw them (2 holes per bracket). price for drilling is RM32.

you shall try lalamove, the rate is at their website and very convenient.
however if you add Helper, the rate is on the high side. so either you buying a lot ,otherwise you seek help from friend to move the goods to your house. A meal can compensate back smile.gif
