I think the best deal would be M4 24/256 10/10/16. Extra RM850 gives +2 GPU & 24GB RAM. (Probably going for this)

or if you need more SSD. M4 16/512 10/10/16. Extra RM850 gives +2 GPU, 512GB & 70W Charger (or 35W dual).

The +RM850 is the same for both normal and edu price.

For edu one difference I can see is for 10/8/16 -> 10/10/16: +RM425 vs +RM382.50. Also for edu slightly less for +32GB and +1TB and +2TB.

The base variant is also the best deal for any laptop currently, it got a lower starting price than the m3, gets 16gb of ram, with m4 it can now connect to 2 external monitors while leaving the lid open

Can order and do collection in TRX on 11/4?

I tried but it didn’t allow it for this moment. Maybe next week once stock arrives? My previous m4 IPad Pro can be collected at the TRX store after ordering online.

Ordered at 3:30PM. Mine is delivers 15-17/4 or pickup 16/4. (Edu, 16/512, 70w, Pinyin keyb)

If change to KL postcode, delivers 11/4. (Edu, 16/512, 35w, US keyb.) Pickup unavailable.
If change either keyboard or adapter, it changes to 15-17 and pickup 16.

I think can't view it because when I set it up it needed the power adapter to be connected, so by the time it is fully set up it says its fully charged today.

Its already available in Apple TRX but no demo yet

Debating if I should upgrade my MBP14 M1 to the new MBA, anyone done this?

Apple Store gave me a rather good trade-in price for my current machine making me even more tempted

I upgraded from mbam1 to the new mbam4. Stuck at DHL MY now. :-( But generally speaking, M1 to M4 is a good upgrade.

Dunno what is happening with DHL/customs/Apple. Still stuck.

First is:
- the common “Awaiting import license”
- now “Authorization specifying that DHL can make entry on behalf of the customer is required.” (Haven’t seen this before)

mostly devops stuff and occasional virtual machine, looking to get the 13" 24gb spec as my current MBP14 only has 16gb. Don't feel performance is hampered but then again all these reviews online are really very potent racun

Did anyone change from MBP M1/M2 to MBA M4? Thinking about it but still hesitant. I remember back when I used an MBA, on occasion, some of my work will cause it to heat up a little...

M1 can. Haven't tried, probably won't on the M4.

M4 is hotter. I saw a review where it thermal throttles faster than the M3 and with higher temps on the keyb. So for sustained operations, probably better to stick with fans. I suppose if you don't use it on your lap, you can mod the mba with thermal pads to get more heat to the bottom case.

I actually made the leap of faith sidegrading to MBA 13 M4 from MBP 14 M1 Pro. First unit I opened had a small chip which exposed the aluminium so had to reject it as DOA machine (got the Midnight variant)

So far impressed with unit. Came with around ~50% ish charge and last charged 26 Jan 2025 so assume that is the manufacturing date. Nothing crazy on the heat so far while setting this up and battery is down to 10% after 4 hours.

And oh my it is so light

First time using Migration Assistant. Previously had always set up from scratch.


This is mbam1 to mbam1 using Orico USB 4 40Gbps cable. I presume it's connecting with Thunderbolt 3. Transfer took about 5 mins after the initial discovery phase. Very fast.

For mbam1 to mbam4, I used Wifi. Migration Assistant will actually display the speed of your home WiFi as well as P2P WiFi and use the faster one. Not sure where the photo went.

Since the MacBook air m4 is fanless, will it overheat when using it for long hours ?

It will slowdown (throttle) to reduce the heat. Also depends on what you're doing, if just browsing web for long hours which is not CPU intensive then no worries. Rendering a 3D scene will induce throttling within minutes. I think will happen faster than many of the reviews since our ambient temp is higher.

But the M4 is so fast that you may not notice it unless you're doing benchmarks.

Just tested WD SN850X 2TB SSD in Acasis USB4/TBT3 enclosure on the mbam4. Good speeds. Same results with included tbt3 cable and Orico USB4 cable.

Not sure if getting a tbt4 enclosure will make things any faster.





Also tested the Orico 10Gbps. Realtek RTL9210 chipset.

Orico is equipped with a Hynix 256GB NVME salvaged from some pc laptop.

a bit awkard where excel shortcut function in mac and windows totally different.

any tips like taking care of the battery, i alway hook up t4 for 2nd screen functions, then the battery will charging mode. it is okay ?
