Implementation for those with income below 500k. Yes, sole proprietorship also kena. I am still grappling with how to deal with claims…waiting for LHDN to hold online training….

can someone please clarify..

business income less than rm150k per year. is this total invoice value or gross profit?

eg second hand car dealers, sales value is high but income ( gross profit could be 20% of sales)..

It's annual sales aka revenue. Not profit.

Based on revenue, not income. High revenue low margin businesses sadly maybe kena.

What I meant was employee claims like entertainment, flights, hotels etc…do we issue e-invoice before we pay them? Cos employee claims is internal transactions.

All sales to foreign companies requires issuing self-billed e-invoice. As long as you are reporting business revenue to LHDN, you will need to issue e-invoice. The only exception is total annual revenue is below 150K. It does not matter whether your revenue come from local sources or foreign sources.

And you can see it is easy for LHDN to catch you if you are not doing e-invoice. Because all they need to do is to check your income tax return that you file with them.

from beginning until as at now, employee need to try get Invoice under company name if possible.
Same as E-Inv, try get bill under company name to remove the hassle of claiming it.
If cannot, then do submit as usual for now.
Later will change or not, nobody knows.
Self Bill E-Inv are for certain type of transactions only.

You better go read the guidelines issued by LHDN.

https://www.hasil.gov.my/en/e-invoice/guidelines/

Basically it means you have to pretend yourself as the seller (who is not issuing e-invoice) and issue e-invoice to yourself. That means if you sellers all not issuing e-invoice then you will have to do all their works.
