Elderly aunty - what is the best option for those sort of content? Last time I guess is dimsum but they're gone now. Priority on easy to use and minimal downtime (I was going to look for evpad but each time go down I will have to fix/explain to her....)

Astro for the maximum uptime. Evpad or any other TV box for that matter is surely to encounter breakdown once in a while.

Thanks, looks like need to fork out that rm50 a month then. I noticed there's a site called iqiyi - anyone used it before? Can subscribe rm12 a month supposedly.

But if your elderly aunty can use those app like iqiyi, should be able to handle tv box. Some of them can even use the remote number to select channels.
Only thing is unstable or bufferring stream depend on luck.

Whether she can handle or not, I will need to sit there and teach her what to press to get to where she wants. I think the usage for tvbox should be okay with some training.

With tvbox my concern is whether it will suddenly go down (e.g. evpad has a topic here about service down). Then I will get a call while at work asking me what is wrong and how to fix it.

iqiyi only for chinese drama/movies, no hokkien and quite limited drama also.
some of the drama/movie will be on youku, wetv.
best will be evpad, svicloud but uptime no guarantee

Not suitable for elderly aunty. Imagine telling them to change proxy, install VPN etc, good luck with that.

my parents said anbox keep cannot use, always black screen and error
i asked them to change the live list, they said don't know change. after teach, they forget again. bangwall.gif bangwall.gif
they looks like still prefer to use svi go/tvbox, turn on live tv, no error and black screen.

When isp block access to stream, then a proxy or vpn should solved the problem.
There are many free proxy or vpn service available which u can setup.
To resolved your elderly issure using a paid subscription is the best solution. otherwise can consider
tvbox that come with their app which often at time face down time as well.
anboxtv is a free service, it is probably one of the best free service available.

In order to avoid isp block what user can do is setup a startup on boot vpn and follow by the anboxtv
If the setup is done in that order, all the elderly need to do is power on the device and after it load the last seen channels
will be shown without the need to lift a finger.

AutoStart App Manager is a free, handy utility that will help you manage all the apps you want to run when your device starts.
You can also manage the apps you want auto-starting in different ways.

You can enable or disable them at any time.

You can also enable or disable them on a per-application basis.

Hope, this can help your elderly a better user experience.

I really appreciate the free service. Just that, it may not be suitable for elderly who are not IT literate. We setup as best we can, but when it comes to things like need to change source etc, it proove to be complicated for them.
