I had an experience once whereby the police raided my property due to drug offences. The police called me and i had to go to police station to give statement.

Luckily i had my tenancy agreement and could prove that i had nothing to do with whatever my tenant was doing and cant be held responsible.

Moral of the story, always have a legal & valid tenancy agreement as it protects you against any risks.

Can reach especially if have large HP aircond for common area/living room turned on the whole time.

well as landlord I control the installation.

Usually tenant won't want to do it, otherwise they install for me for free.

My electric is 500-600 a month already with just 2 people inside. So 800 must be normal right?

Yes, but not all landlord do.
I had the experience staying with a bunch of foreigners before, it was a free accommodation provided by co. It almost seems the aircond for living room and dining area turned on the whole time, until one day HR came and scolded everyone because the bills had reached four digits.

Apparently alot of property owners got very upset when I said the same in lowyat. You rent out your property, at least play you responsibility to ensure your property is not used for crime purposes but nope they see red when people call them for being careless and just goyang kaki collect money

Some ppl are actually surprised when I said I do inspections and do repair (either by myself or I bear the cost) without relying on agents.

It's like the entire concept of 'looking out for yourself' is alien to them.

thats why get scammed also. to ask us to be vigilant and suspicious - it's not in our DNA

How? TnB already been to check. Have some older aircon. Replaced one but not the others. Usually have one aircon on at a time only still 600 easy.

I don't understand how some pay so little. Must be different rates for different areas or condo.

U live what house how many electric appliances? I used to live in a condo with 3 people's. Average monthly RM100-130 only.

We all use aircond also. Got fridge got TV got washing machine.

But dunno how Ur one can until RM600

Condo also? Too big edi la Ur usage. Some 2 storey house got 4 bedroom with family of 6 also use 500 only.

Impossible so high. Maybe Ur fish tank. Or maybe 2hp aircond.

But also... 600 is too crazy

Commercial lot and residential lot

Commercial lot will charge commercial pricing

Dryer, heater, Aircon,pc high rate consumption electricity

Get an authorised technician to install a power meter and measure your consumption vs TNB measured consumption for a start. Slowly troubleshoot from there.

Unless you jot down your usual habit and all your appliances, impossible to track.

Older R410a AC are a lot more power hungry than current models. Also depends on your temp setting as well. I saw my mom's old 1HP R410a 5 stars rated Panasonic inverter AC stated 1500w whereas a 5 stars inverter AC from Samsung is rated at 800w.

I used to have a old fridge that's non inverter consuming about 5kwh everyday. The replacement inverter fridge only consume 1kwh as comparison.

PC with powerful graphic and cpu also suck a lot of power. Then there's the usual water heater, kettle or thermopot, induction cooker.

Another thing I noticed is that some people who are struggling with high electricity bills are led light users. Even though led lights consume very little electricity by it's own but many people install excessive amount of lights to produce the same bright environment as those using T8 lighting.
