QUOTE(tekkaus @ Jan 24 2025, 08:45 AM) If it is cheap...it won't be long-lasting. i bought a huawei mate 30 on sales before obsolete @ RM1300 before 2020 end... still using up to date and no issue. You should be prepared to invest around RM2k to RM2.5k for a mid-range smartphone. Otherwise...if lower than that it is not worth it. I suggest Honor. but i know it's almost time to change, probably in 1 or 2 years time due to performance and firmware issue |

Owned 3 honor, and all still working well.
The oldest around yr2019 which now gave to my dotter to play games. So my vote is on honor. |

QUOTE(Bananahead @ Jan 24 2025, 08:59 AM) Yea, before the current one, previously I also had another Xiaomi, lasted for 5 years, and was still good, I only changed because that time wanted a newer phone. But their quality seems pretty inconsistent, since my current Xiaomi got spoiled pretty fast. I would pick honor too. Minimal bloatware, and my Huawei didn't have issue even after 4 years, only change battery. Less than 1k is honor X9c, https://s.lazada.com.my/s.ocHgl pgsiemkia liked this post

QUOTE(Bananahead @ Jan 24 2025, 08:38 AM) Looking for a cheap phone, but must be long lasting. Currently using a Xiaomi phone which has been with me for 4 years, previously got screen issue after the 3 years mark, now almost dead, constant freezing every hour or so. iphone. What other brands are both cheap and long lasting? Should I stay with Xiaomi, or move to other brands? Among Vivo, Oppo and Honor, which one the most long lasting? Never used any of them before. pgsiemkia liked this post

Into my 3rd xiaomi. The hardware may last but the security updates won't.

I would avoid Color OS hence maybe Oppo is out straightaway.
Personally I think you cant just look at branding when buying phones. Specify what you need then decide on a shortlist of phones. Some phones prioritize performance for gaming, sucks on camera. Generally I think gaming phone felt a bit flimsy, plasticky but the performance advantage is real and it does not feel laggy over the years. Phones that generally sucks after few years are those that focus on camera and aesthetics because it uses a mediocre SoC that would be too slow after a few years. Choose anything between 1500-2000 (at least) if you have a low budget and you want a snappy phone that would last for 4-5 years. |
