Hi all, has anyone ever stayed in Ang's Hotel in KK? How is it? Is it near to the filipin market, ferry point as well as the gaya street market? If it is not good, can anyone recommend some good budget hotels (not BnB) in that area?
Thanks, any info is much appreciated!

Added on August 15, 2008, 5:22 amOne more thing, is it possible to do a day trip to Tip of Borneo and Kudat? How is the road condition, I hear it takes 4 hours to drive there? If drive slowly say around 70kmh and stop here and there to take pictures, can do visit in one day or not? Or is it better to stay one night in Kudat, but I'm afraid it might rain and won't be able to see the sunset so rugilah if stay one night at marina resort.

thanks bro, much appreciated. I am trying to plan a trip to kudat now, 3 hours drive isn't too bad. Is it nearer if i drove from kundasang? i'm trying to find information on the longhouse stay. i think a 2 nights stay at the marina resort would be nice n relaxing but not for this time, maybe next visit in the dryer months. the beaches really look very nice. november is already the rainy season in sabah right? cos air asia promo now rm9 only, thinking of going again in november but if rainy season no point lor...

This question is for those who live in KK, I plan to go again in December or maybe even November. Is that a bad time because of the rough seas and rainy weather? I want to go to the mountains again and maybe go to Pulau Tiga.

very much depends on ur luck, sabah can suddenlly heavy rain one.

as for mountain, raining season or not, u still have to equip urself ready for rain.

do you mean to say there is no real rainy season and no real dry season in sabah, in particular kk? i don't mean suddenly rain which is normal, i mean what are the months that the chances of rain is much higher. for example, in sarawak the monsoon season starts in november and it can rain everyday! but somedays no rain but mostly there will be rain every day, sometimes heavy sometimes light rain. does sabah have this kind of weather or is it just the same weather every month throughout the year? thanks for the replies!

ya i also read and heard that the food esp seafood in KK is very expensive, about the same or even more expensive than in Kuching. We ate 3 persons seafood in Kuching paid only about rm66. while my friends ate two persons only in KK paid RM77. she was so shocked because they just went to a normal kopitiam. another friend paid rm150 for a plate of large prawns.... aiyooo that one also terkejut gila one cos they didn't expect that. so is fresh seafood a lot cheaper then? where to buy fresh seafood cos then we can cook at friend's house biggrin.gif

rockey, plenty of hotels in kk no problem, choose from budget to five star. in the city, many hotels to choose from. for a good list, simply go to the sabah tourism website and look there, they have it categorized by budget category.

rockey, sounds good. make sure u don't miss gaya street. there is another pasar tamu in tamparuli, if u go to the mountains and come back on wednesday morning, u can stop by the tamparuli tamu (or go to mountains on wed morning).

i am back from Sabah, here are the photos from my 6 days there:

Added on September 19, 2008, 3:51 pmoh ya, as for hotel i can recommend Pantai Inn, we stayed there two nights, cheap but clean and comfortable and worth it. all their rooms below RM100 but it is very popular so be sure to call to book early! we almost cannot get room luckily got people checking out that morning.

rockey, if u take taxi at midnight there will be surcharge. for 4 people no problem lah, just split the cost. normal fare to cutry is rm20, to 1borneo megamall (tune is here) should be more lor, maybe 30? midnight will cost more. if u arrive earlier then u in luck, buy your taxi coupon before midnight then u get normal fare. did u check out my tune hotel photos? it is in my day three photo set here:
http://flickr.com/photos/sarawaklens/sets/72157607256382772/

why dont u rent a car, easier for u to explore with your friends, just split the cost.

Added on September 19, 2008, 6:58 pmanother thing, u arrive saturday midnight then tomorrow u can take a shuttle bus from 1borneo to KK city (ask at tune counter). that's why actually i don't recommend you stay at tune if u want to explore the city first. it is also cheaper if u shop around car rental companies within the city. BUT, if u do rent a car then no problem lah if u stay at tune cos there u can park in the megamall underground parking and then just drive around if u want to go places.
