The main reason why I kept to using Samsung are these 2 features. Yet I seldom come across people talking about them. So how many of you are using these 2 features?

Dex replaces my laptop while on the road.
Secure Folder replace the need for an extra phone, just for the sensitive apps like banking apps etc

Dex is better when you connect to external monitor so it is full screen, can even use monitor touch screen to treat like tablet. Never used secure folder though

with DEX, do you mean you plug it into the hotel TV ?

for Secure Folder, can you add 2 of the same apps inside ? Since some payment app only allow to bind to one device at a time.

You can hook up DEX to TV via cable or wireless.

But I just buy a cheap lightweight touchscreen monitor. I have a laptop but for vacation travel, I hardly use laptop but on the rare occasion I need to connect to office computer or MS office etc, Dex is more than capable. Theft of laptop is a lesser concern than theft of data on laptop. Since data is in phone, Dex solved that concern.

Secure Folder. Think of it of having 2 separate phones. The one in Secure Folder has hardware and software protection and need additional password/pin to get into. One 'phone' for general usage whereas the other 'phone' for sensitive apps like banking or Teamviewer.

Secure Folder being a 'separate phone', of course you can install as many apps like Dropbox, Gallery, Camera, emails, browsers as you like. But for banking, the bank only allow it to be installed on ONE device and this is the limitation imposed by the bank, not the phone. As for Whatsapp, they only allow 1 device per number. So it is either installed in the 'general' phone or the 'secure' phone, not both.

Secured Folder > All Android + All iOS

Dex not important to me, but some people might find it useful.

Some Android OEM like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo etc have their version of Secured Folder "Alike" software/app build/baked into their OS.

Secure Folder is better because powered by KNOX (which hardware+software encryption) which you already know, and you love to use.

Unless someone try to torture you to get you to access it, otherwise there is very very very hard to break access it.

I have a few comments

1. For Android, I found that SoftMaker Office is far better if you're using it in a big screen setup with keyboard and mouse, much more features and better than MS Office on Android in my opinion

2. You can use whatsapp on multiple phones now, but 1 is still the "master" phone that has full control

Thanks for the info. I use 365 because it allows me 6 x 1T of cloud storage pittance. So MS Office comes with it.

I could be wrong but they are not exactly the same thing.

Supposedly your phone security got compromised, that would probably means your banking apps will also be compromised, even if it has app lock.

With Secure Folder, since it is essentially a Sandbox, your banking apps would likely be still safe to use.

Beside software protection, Secure Folder also have hardware protection. I would think that makes Secure Folder safer.

Did some Googling and some says Samsung Knox is one of the best for security. I know Knox is good but did not know it is THAT good.

Interesting share. I didn't even aware they got this feature until you share about it. I am aware of dex but obviously these 2 feature was under advertise.

Dex is a good initiative and in future smart phone might be so powerful that it can replace bulky desktop & laptop with a portable lightweight display. They should heavily advertise and polish the software to get a head start over other brand.
