My tyre just run for about 28k km. Punctured on highway by a metal rod. But unfortunately, mechanic say cant patch it from inside since still got leaking. The boss say need one hour to do the necessary.
Now i am wondering, if i want to change new one, shall i get only one , or to change a pair ?
Update TS went to a lorry workshop, i was wondering why the repairing process took only less than 5m. The worker say, one hour he can close shop. Balancing done, no need any tuning.
Initially i tot still got leaking since pressure reduce after few days. But it turn out to be the tube problem. After chnaged it, now ts drive for another 14k milleage, so far so good.
TS wanna change tryre once approaching 60km. TS has avery gentle driving habit. InB4 my cvt gearbox after 10 years still like new.

Change pair since run 28k km already. The other tyre can replace your spare tyre.

Spare tyre seem smaller. The ori 15inch tyre can fit but with higher width. My back tray cant laid flat there. This post has been edited by Zhik: Jan 4 2025, 10:52 PM

If the tyre ain't expensive just change a pair , if tyre is expensive mean you can afford at the first also change a pair juga .
破财消灾 that the best solution i can give.

I have seen big metal rod like those from construction sides pierce thru the tires and still can be patch. Unless the tires shop is small and only do cars only, usually big tire shop and got do lorries 1 can settle it without issue. They got plenty of different size patch pads to cater different situations.

Initially dint know it, when i found out my tyre ald flat. It is the dragging that make the hole bigger and jagged edge that they cant patch it. Thanks for the info. Where to find those lorry tyre repair shop?

To my surprise is, after he took off the tag, balancing is as good as no tag at all. Buta2 rm25.... It seems like almost all of the mechanic shops are scammer. But this one i can comment as incompetent. They can only patch a small hole, for inner tube. This post has been edited by Zhik: Jan 6 2025, 02:29 PM

Once up machine need to pay already, but depends on area kampung place maybe still got around RM10/pcs for balancing. Patching & labour cost seems normal.

Does the patch can withstand high heat during long distance drive on highway?

QUOTE(em_on @ Jan 7 2025, 10:44 AM) change new better, bro. sidenote, did you lodge report and claim to highway concession? How to claim ? I read that there is a lot of hassle. The case i read about is they dont honor ur claim for something they cant control. i changed the tire myself. Dint call them for nothing as i am in hurry... I wanna change new one also, but 28k milleage tyre seem either choice is okish. Repair shop near my place, more convenient. This post has been edited by Zhik: Jan 7 2025, 11:13 AM
