When traveling to Thailand with a Digi roaming package, your phone will automatically connect to Digi's preferred partner network in Thailand. This automatic selection ensures you benefit from the roaming package rates and avoid additional charges.

However, if your device connects to a non-partner network, you may incur higher pay-per-use rates. To prevent this, you can manually select the preferred network:

1 Go to your phone's settings.
2 Navigate to 'Mobile Data' or 'Cellular Networks'.
3 Select 'Network Selection' and turn off 'Automatic'.
4 Choose the preferred partner network from the list.

For Digi customers, the preferred partner network in Thailand is AIS or Dtac

Additionally, ensure that data roaming is enabled on your device to utilize the roaming package. If you encounter connectivity issues, manually selecting the preferred network can help resolve them.

For more details on Digi's roaming services and packages, you can refer to their official website.

-remember to disable automatic voice mail

-do not answer any calls (if whatsapp call, then ok la)

-and do not make any calls (if whatsapp call, then ok la)

data roaming is for mobile data only

all those horror stories of high charges that we hear is because they did not do the above.

Usually 5g means 4g also available. Your will get what your phone able to handle. My current data has both (for roaming too) but phone doesn't have 5g capability.

Unless its specifically stated 5g only plan

I just got into Thai today. Yesterday last min instead of roaming, I buy esim from shopee since all our phone support it.

Instant 3 x 50% off the cost.

No idea tbh. I've never connected to non partner network when roaming before. Best to take note what network connected when 1st entering the country I suppose.

I'd advice same as post #6. Few thousand RM horror stories are always because of these only. That's the only solution as telco can't bar you from using your phone, with or without crazy charges.

Long ago I bought prepaid sim just to roam as it was cheaper. RM 10 vs 38/day quite no brainer decision laugh.gif
Added benefit of no accidental crazy bill.

2024 digi roaming are simple as eating snack

Just buy addon package and there you go, just be careful with the local calls and you'll be fine

Recommendation - activate roaming pass before boarding flight in KL. Don’t wait until land there.

I still buy roaming SIM off shopee. Cheaper than roaming and no risk of surprises.

Not sure with digi, but for maxis, if u didnt connect to partner roaming network, u cant online at all, and maxis will send sms ask to connect manually to their roaming network (they will mentioned the telco name/s)
