The cost of building material in Indonesia is more expensive than Malaysia. Cement, paint, steel bars, BRC, bricks, sand etc all more expensive & if not available near their kampung, need to charter lorry to deliver somemore.

The only thing cheaper would be labour, but that also IDR200k per day minimum now.

Few years later, the young chap's immediate neighbour, an angmoh wants to sell his house & balik Australia. Again, the parents bought the angmoh's house, again in cash.

Talk kok. There build house no government and safety compliance cost. Got land just build. Also skilled labour is cheap there like RM70 only perday. There the item is not as cheap as you think. Plus minus almost same as Malaysia, and some even more expensive than malaysia. Only thing cheap there is when its homemade like food

last time my grandma indon maid said she is building a house back home ...then suddenly one time flash flood destroyed the kampung kekwa...she was crying while telling us haha
