Indonesian Rupiah Plunges 1.2% Against USD, Outpacing Ringgit's Decline https://equalocean.com/news/2024121921242 Several cities in Indonesia are sinking, including Jakarta, the capital, and other cities in Java and Sumatra: Jakarta The capital of Indonesia is sinking rapidly, with some areas subsiding over 11 inches per year. The primary cause is excessive groundwater extraction, which has weakened the ground. Medan Located on the northeast coast of Sumatra, this city is the capital of the North Sumatra province. Bandung Located in Java, this city is experiencing ground subsidence. Semarang Located in Java, this city is experiencing ground subsidence.
