Fyi, ....... https://www.carlist.my/news/explaining-the-...-1-60073/60073/ - Explaining The Mystery Behind High Car Prices in Malaysia - Part 1 - 18 July 2018 = Proton and Perodua pay no excise duty because they receive maximum R&D grants/subsidies from the government yearly. ....... Hence their car prices, eg Proton Persona, Iriz, Saga, Perodua Axia, Myvi, Bezza, Ativa, etc, are still cheaper than comparable locally-assembled Toyota and Honda cars. Seems, Geely-rebadged Proton X50/X70/X90/S70 got less grants/subsidies. . in other word our National cars do brought up our car prices. any foreign brand can't price their car lower than our local car and our local car can't bring down the prices because not enough volume. wouldn't it be better without the 2Ps in the automobile market?
