My half year Samsung A55 suddenly got some purple blotches yesterday. GOOGLED and found that the screen underneath is leaking. To the best of my knowledge, I didn't even drop the phone. When I got to the mall 2 hours later, the purple blotches has spread from the initial spots.
The lady at the service center said it's not covered under warranty. I told her that I didn't drop the phone and she said will have to wait for approval from Samsung KL if they were to repair it under warranty.
Looking at the Samsung website (https://www.samsung.com/my/support/mobile-devices/screen-replacement-for-smartphones-and-tablets/ ) , it's Rm368 (screen) + Rm60-Rm85 (labor) .
Anyone has any experience with claiming warranty for this purple blotches, stains ? Thank you.

QUOTE(kidmad @ Dec 16 2024, 09:19 AM) which SC you went? please state done? if your phone is in pristine condition there's no reason why you can't claim warranty. I went to Gurney Plaza as that's the one in Penang that is opened on Sunday. I thought it will be repaired on the spot but no since it's not "under warranty". Phone is in pristine condition. I had a case and tempered glass on all this while. I remove the tempered glass before going to SC to confirm that the issue is on that screen and not the tempered glass. The person remarked "scratches" in the repair slip which I disagreed and asked to be shown the scratches... she ended up removing that remark. Phone is left with them last evening and I am waiting to see if they are going to repair it for free or charge me.

Samsung website says the warranty for this devices ends in Apr-2026. Fingers crossed. Thank you.

Don't sign how to collect back the phone ?
Some points that I can remember. - the repair is out of goodwill and not under warranty. - they will not repair it again for this issue. - not be held liable from other issues from this repair.

Like gangster....warranty should be covered based on original warranty period. If it fails again, it is still under warranty. Can use Small Tribunal court to sue them or something. You should not have sign that. Threaten them you will report police. This post has been edited by CommodoreAmiga: Feb 21 2025, 06:36 AM

QUOTE(GregPG01 @ Dec 26 2024, 10:05 AM) - the repair is out of goodwill and not under warranty. I would've pressed them to justify that it is not under warranty. But well, lets hope it wont come back Question though, when you sent your phone to the SC, did you only provide your Shopee receipt or were there other documents/information that you had to give?
