have tried this before..even if you can get it to work the connection won't be stable. My connection drops at least once after 24 hours or randomly at times, then reconnects after. It's quite annoying if everyone else is using the network during peak hours. I think it's better to have the opnsense unit sit behind the ISP router.
I had this before. In my case its the Realtek drivers. Base realtek drivers kinda suck in Linux. I had to install manually update the Realtek drivers. Previously self compile. Now its a package in pfsense. Not sure about opnsense.Once update, no more stability issues.
