 Transfer of employment to another company, What is the treatment of labour law?

A company that i'm currently under employed is going to surrender their retailing business of a brand and this branded company had no choice but to start a branch in order to continue this line of business since there other buyer out there is willing to retail for them.

Legally, i'm still employed under the existing company and the branded company is shorthanded, knowing that I have the skill and trying to request my current employer for the transfer.

I'm curious what does this say in the labour law? Wonder if i should accept such offer of transfer since in my employment contract, it doesn't say anything about this. And obviously, my current employer would proceed to liquidate the company, so if under normal circumstances, I should be entitled for compensation based the labour law right - in view that they would terminate me? Or I'm wrong, they could choose not to terminate me and go around some other way? If I accept such offer of transfer, am I entitled for any compensation?

This happens pretty frequently when one business buys over another.

They will likely offer you new employment contract under this new entity and considered you resigned from existing one. In this case, there wont be any compensation.

If you dont like new job, just hold on till current company goes in liquidation for compensation. That may worth it if you spent many years with current employer as package commensurate number of years.

Of course, you can try negotiate the deal to join new company which is likely best scenario.

better go check your employment hand book and employment letter if anything stated about compensation, don't just assume.

if not mentioned, it may not be compulsory and you may get nothing from it

Try to negotiate for better term & benefits first...

Because if goes into liquidation... There's risk you might not get anything... Because you're at the bottom of the list...

Anyway...
Better read your current employment contract for clearance..
