Another Apple rumor that just won't die -- the supposed development of a new Newton-esque tablet computer -- was injected with additional hype serum on Tuesday when an unnamed (yet reportedly reputable) source at ASUS told CNet that Apple is indeed in midst of developing this mythical tablet computer. The Taiwan-based firm has reportedly been contracted to build the new device, which Cnet claims will be a completely new design rather than share roots with any existing ASUS model. While no further details were provided, speculation for now is that the tablet will feature a mobile-optimized version of OS X as well as a multi-touch display. The release date, while also unspecified, is rumored to be sometime next year. http://crave.cnet.co.uk/laptops/0,39029450,49293967,00.htmhttp://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=201751http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=201728

One word: Woah But I haven't been a big fan of tablets. The picture looks photoshopped though. The bottom part of the LCD doesn't look like it have the ability to turn 180.

Macbook may be ok, because we already got Modbook, which is priced so freaking high. Mbp with touchscreen. Unless they use different processor. that would be nuts. because any temperature higher than 50 degree celcius, will gonna fry your screen. or may be the whole architecture will change. may be ventilation holes will be located at the side? haha.. cant really imagine what kind of tablet mbp will come out. but it will be pricier than the currently available Fujitsu Mlife, lifebook series. which priced at 12k.

Well if the rumour is true and this thing has an adequate processing power and nice graphic card (even IGP X3100 is enough) and good battery life (perhaps more than 5 hours?) that is light enough ( i would like to see 1.5kg - i think its possible with aluminium clad ) AND of course not cost an arm and leg to own it, im sold!
Err, this kind of wish is not too much right?

Err, this kind of wish is not too much right? this sure NOT true. Don't dream too much about "cheap" price. ultra-portable laptop is always the most pricey if you compare the spec (low spec but price can as high as mbp)
