Hi,

I would like to ask.

Let say if I have a Master qualification. I applied for a job that required Degree as the highest qualification to apply. Is it okay for me to remove Master qualification on my resume?

Same goes to people that have Degree, but they applied a job that required Diploma. Is it okay for them not to include Degree qualification on their resume?

Thank you smile.gif

Usually its the minimum requirement so just apply.

If your not honest in your application it might come back and haunt you one day.

It is dependent on the HR policy of the employer I guess....?
I know one local bank the HR policy stated cannot hire candidates with Masters for degree-level openings (even if the candidate is fine with it)
The HR staffs can always perform background checking even if you never include inside your resume

Caution, if you remove it from your application form, don’t forget to delete it from your LinkedIn too. Pulverised all mention of it on your digital footprint.

you may risk insecure hiring managers throwing your resume in the rubbish bin. Anyhow do you want to work with insecure managers?

Why need to delete from LinkedIn? its a crime for not wanting to flaunt academic qualifications when applying for a job? Its a smart thing to not let people think you are over qualified. Hiring managers seeing the masters degree and start thinking how long will this dude stay here until he gets a teaching role for example.

I did not put my highest qualification during job application. I did update my employee data in the company portal. no one come and fire my ass also? I dont think my boss even know or care what my highest academic qualification is.

Some companies are cautious not to hire you as you've exceeded their budget hiring with your additional qualifications

You can say you don't mind but why are you selling yourself short?

i would rather be over-qualified for the role than under. keep the qualifications in your resume however be ready for an reason to explain, if asked.

Depend on industries. Some might reject over qualify candidate. But some don't. My friend got reject during open interview. But I would you just include the master in your resume. If they reject you mean the company is not a good one for you.

I'm want to apply different kind job that I'm doing right now.

I don't mind taking a paycut a little bit. I'm totally burn out with the current job.

It is well within your rights to exclude any of your qualifications, just as it is well within their rights to fire you for the flimsiest excuse when they no longer want you. They did not pay for your masters, so why are you obligated to tell them?

But then, no reason to hide it. If they want to be insecure about it, it is their loss.

If its not your 1st job, just include.
You must have reason for your burnout and now you are looking at options. So it's you choosing them, not the other way round.
Starting on the right note is the key.

Meanwhile, find way to relax. Burnout - it ain't about changing job only.

Never short sell yourself, I once kena during interview during my "youger" days ..

I went in for a job interview knowing they do not "emphasis" my certain professional certificate as the industry itself had its own; hence the omission.

During the interview, I can't remember how to a certain extend the conversation steer towards my professional and personal development I inform of my "on-going" certification.

In conclusion, I was asked to put in regardless it's useful or not in hiring. I got the job anyway due to me expertise and cert is all a past if you have experience. I even got to state the pay I want which I'l also regretted as I low ball myself, though higher than those pessimist job hunter recruiter.

You are overthinking it. Rarely masters is a requirement for most corporate jobs.

When you put your main education history just put degree as the 1st line.

Masters, you still mention, but 2nd line or something. Nothing to hide but it is more important to highlight your degree.

Most hiring manager when filtering for interview would only have time to read few lines.

No need to put your Masters qualification in your resume for a job that only needs Bachelors degree.... it will probably be used against you in your job application - ie: they think you are over-qualified.

Rather... put your job experience, internship experience and companies youve worked before (if any)...

Masters qualification is more relevant if they asked for it in the job advertisement... also, Masters/PhD is more relevant for teaching job.
