QUOTE(officeBoy @ Nov 19 2024, 12:54 PM) Depends on your model, mine is around RM4.25k which is surprisingly close to US trade in pricing. Australia's trade in price is really bad, near RM3k only. officeBoy liked this post

And scratches are also more obvious and looks uglier in black compared to silver

QUOTE(pqchook @ Nov 29 2024, 09:54 PM) I’ll try take some pics. QUOTE(yvliew @ Nov 30 2024, 02:38 PM) if you know your screen isn't in perfect condition, how do you expect to get the full trade in value? Just curious.. They are quite relax with iPhone trade ins, I’ve seen scratches, small dents etc all given full trade in value. Hope it’s the same with laptops 😅 |

QUOTE(dreamthief @ Nov 30 2024, 07:54 PM) Not bad price for m2 pro. I’m having a very old Intel mbp. Ohh big difference, I had the intel i9 2019 MBP before upgrading to the M2 pro. Just ordered it.. showing delivery 6th to 10th. Not in a hurry. Didn’t take the nano display? Not really since I don’t use it outdoors under bright sun much. And the nano from what users reviewed said the blacks are more muted and whites are washed out in comparison. |

Guess which is the M4P 🫣 Migration using WiFi & USB-C(ethernet?) was slow as hell, quit both times and had to reset the laptop each time. Ended up backing up to time capsule and restoring to the new MBP. blahbleh and jonthebaptist liked this post

QUOTE(blahbleh @ Dec 4 2024, 10:56 AM) I wouldn't recommend keyboard cover unless you take it out each time after use and closing the lid.As for casing, I had Incase Dots for my previous MBP and it was better than Uniq & some cheaper generic transparent case from Shopee. But ofc with casing there is always a small chance for: 1) Hinge getting a bit looser (not as tight as before) 2) Warping/bent lid or even breaking screen if it is not well made/fit On a side note, my trade in was successful!! Full trade in value! Despite having a small scratch on the body, and small needle like holes on the screen... Good to see Malaysia Apple trade in is more laxed compared to overseas from what I've read on reddit |

QUOTE(hown @ Dec 5 2024, 05:47 PM) just received MBP 14, M4 1TB with nano texture screeen. Treat your screen with more care, with nano texture it is more scratch prone than normal glossy glassI must say it looks amazing without affecting much screen quality, in fact i feel eyes more comfortable looking at nano texture screen compared to MBA M1. I didnt use migration assistant because everything i keep on icloud, so i just wait them to be resync back, and i only use a few apps where i can just redownload from apps store. Nothing much to transfer Order date : 30/11/24 https://www.reddit.com/r/iPadPro/comments/1...ratchable_that/ You can get Apple's super expensive micro fibre cloth specially for their nano texture, but I think any good micro fibre cloth works fine. https://www.apple.com/my/shop/product/MW693...polishing-cloth |

QUOTE(hown @ Dec 5 2024, 06:10 PM) Apple actually kind enough to include 1 micro fibre cloth for free in the box. Oh wow that's great, RM99 worth. Probably included in the Nano price. I also bought the cloth last year, really good quality. Thanks for the advice. normally i use alcohol wipes, not sure if it will harm nano texture I used the Zeiss alcohol lens wipes a few times on my previous MBP as well. Didn't have any issues but noticed a discolouration mark before I traded it in. Don't think it was the wipes problem though, so not sure where it came from... |

QUOTE(dreamthief @ Dec 5 2024, 07:36 PM) Some Apple rumors say iPhone line will get nano coating. If you don’t have thunderbolt cable, the fastest is to backup Time Machine to SSD and restore in the new MBP. I got my mbp m4 today too. Apple system kept the 6-10th timeline. So confusing.. email shows 6th, then suddenly deliver today. So how best to migrate from old to new mbp? First timer here… I’m more interested to transfer iTunes music files only. WiFi & normal USB-C(Ethernet) is damn slow. |

QUOTE(dreamthief @ Dec 5 2024, 08:35 PM) Ohh I wouldn't mind a thinner version as well, the retail one is quite thick!QUOTE(dreamthief @ Dec 5 2024, 11:21 PM) How is this so slow? iPhone peer to peer transfer should at least work the same for MacBook pro.... guess not. Hahah maybe it'll speed up after a while? But using SSD backup to restore was much faster. Which did you end up using?hmmm the nano display is good... if nobody share the "cons" of it... dont realise actually.. haha |

Bought my new MBP some new clothes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1) Tomtoc A13 Fitting is very snug and tight, inner compartment is very soft and plush. Comes with an outer zip compartment with enough space to store your accessories, e.g. cables, AirPods, small power banks, even charger (but it'll be bulging out) Protection is good as well since 4 corners have inner bumper like material etched inside. The bundle comes with an accessory pouch as well, total: RM134 in Shopee after vouchers 2) Uniq Oslo Similar to Moft sleeve. Main difference is no expandable storage section, only 1 angle stand (Moft has 2), and Uniq top flap is bigger, giving more coverage compared to Moft which is more exposed. Material wise is quite similar from memory, doesn't offer much protection since the sleeve material is only 2-3mm thick - slim profile. During the laptop stand mode, it is very secure and stable. No wobble etc, so it works very well as advertised. The magnets are also strong. However the fitting inside is quite big, there is quite a bit of space for the 14" MBP to move around inside. The stone grey option in Shopee is selling at a really good price now: RM 89 after vouchers (and includes free engraving as well) This post has been edited by Lego Warfare: Dec 6 2024, 10:48 PM Cimo liked this post

QUOTE(dreamthief @ Dec 7 2024, 01:58 AM) Time Machine route as u suggested. I got the Uniq instead, 2x cheaper than Moft and the opening is more protective as well Looks good, especially Moft looks pretty fucntional I’m getting https://www.nedrelow.com/products/magic-sleeve It acts like a desktop pad as well.. been using for iPad and old mbp13”. 14” mbp fitting not as good, so getting the proper clothes for it. Hehe Ohh the magic sleeve function looks quite useful as well, but I don't like merino wool though. Hate the texture and it's also a lint magnet.. |

QUOTE(Cimo @ Dec 7 2024, 06:08 AM) The common ones:1) Sleeve/Case (even if it is in my backpack I prefer the MBP to be in a sleeve since it is so scratch prone 2) AirPods (if you are using iPhone, the auto switching is a very nice feature. Not to mention Spatial Audio for movies are great) 3) 60/100w powerbank. So useful for charging outside without needing a power plug 4) USB-C wireless mouse (I prefer with USB-C receiver instead of bluetooth, can't stand the latency delay with bluetooth) 5) Portable SSD for backup 6) Charger (not necessary, but I prefer a smaller more compact charger compared to Apple's) 7) Applecare+ Cimo liked this post

QUOTE(Cimo @ Dec 8 2024, 07:01 AM) Thanks for the recommendation. If the hard case is poorly made with tight fitting or with clips that touches the screen then it is possible. I’ve used hard case on both of my MBP before for years and had no problems though. I read that hard case is not recommended as it may damaged the screen. Is that true? For a protective sleeve, which one that you recommend for 16-inch MBP? There are many types of protective sleeve, depends on the type you like. If you like hard cases, Thule is quite popular. For soft padded cases, tomtoc is popular. Other options like Uniq, Mous etc. If you don’t mind slimmer sleeves there are many more choices out there. |
