As emergency power if the power its cut off, during an accident for example. The battery/capacitor can supply enough power for few seconds/minutes to properly save the recording, especially the last few moment during/after the accident happened.

avoid DDPAI x5 Pro. Very good recording quality and bought it because of the ADAS notification, but that function is malfunctioning after a few software update.
