Ya UK hospital prioritise pregnant women first. If a women don't want anyone to know, the hospital will keep it highly confidential, not even her own husband or boyfriend will know or is allowed to visit her during labour or after delivery. Just tragic that this happened, probably she is unsure of what to do. The first question doctors/midwife in UK hospital ask every time towards pregnant women is whether they are being abused or under duress or if they need any help.. probably she is not thinking straight..

Don’t think it’s PPD. She concealed her pregnancy from time dot. Post-delivery, she was aware that she did wrong as she refused vaginal swap at the hospital etc. She repacked her baby in the cereal box into a suitcase. This all requires capacity to plan.

She has screwed up her life, for sure. Oh, to be a fly on the wall in her family home now.

As an aside, friend of a friend adopted a baby from a top private hospital not that long ago. The couple was childless and all IVF procedures failed and brought more heartache. So, they let the word out that they were ready to adopt.

Out of the blue, their hospital contact called to ask them to come immediately to collect a baby. Mother was a private uni student. Pretty, by all accounts. Baby’s grandparents paid for hospital bills and they didn’t want a single sen for the adoption. Just take the baby away.
