QUOTE(solarmystic @ Oct 25 2024, 11:57 AM) She was in a nation that would bend over backwards to help women in her position via anonymous adoption, baby hatches in hospitals and so on. If she did this in Malaysia you'd be sympathetic somewhat since women in her position face extreme prejudice by society. Absolutely no excuses for what she did in the UK. Ya UK hospital prioritise pregnant women first. If a women don't want anyone to know, the hospital will keep it highly confidential, not even her own husband or boyfriend will know or is allowed to visit her during labour or after delivery. Just tragic that this happened, probably she is unsure of what to do. The first question doctors/midwife in UK hospital ask every time towards pregnant women is whether they are being abused or under duress or if they need any help.. probably she is not thinking straight.. QUOTE(nelson969 @ Oct 26 2024, 04:42 PM) https://www.judiciary.uk/judgments/r-v-jia-xin-teo/TLDR : Life imprisonment and 17 years custody smh no media pick up. fact about her life : -has ex bf of 3 years, unknown to him that a baby is born after the breakup, assuming -all happen between december 23 and march 24 time line -study in Malaysia University of Technology for study in marketing -must be lalazai or someone who hook up her -denied all help Read the judgement. Real pity towards the mum and the dead baby. Such a tragic situation.. Even when she's on student visa, UK hospital will provide top priority to pregnant lady, doesn't matter what nationality, citizen or non citizen. She couldn't think straight probably.. QUOTE(tungfunglaw @ Oct 27 2024, 12:56 AM) 1 thing is b4 the baby is born. another was after baby was born. not the same my fren. that's it's called post natal. no sane person will kill another life so easily. Post natal depression can hit any women. My close friend committed suicide in Oct 2015, just 10 days after delivering her baby boy. It was reported in front-page of The Star. Just so sad hearing the news because she was the most sane and calmest person I know. She also have the same surname as this lady and is also from Johor Bahru..

QUOTE(overthemoon @ Oct 26 2024, 08:51 PM) Nope. U.K. prima facie does not grant citizenship based on jus soli, i.e. by right of soil - if you are born on UK soil. Either one of your parent must be a resident of UK for at least 5 years where you lived and worked. The period where you remain as a student does NOT count. Actually, had she give up the legal rights to the child, the child will be under state care and the baby will get citizenship..
