Hello guys, moving to a new place and I need recommendation for my setup. Consider myself a noob here so please give your suggestions!

Not sure if this is relevant but my living room will be 20ft x 27ft

Looking at 75 inch or 85 inch tv
Potentially a home theatre setup with basic surround sound etc.

Again I have no idea how to go about this so please throw your ideas and recommendation and I would reply if you need more info!! Thank you!

Anything from the lg oled range is fine, even the cheapest ones have perfect picture quality. Just might loose some features like 120hz and stuff

But audio don’t buy lg. I personally use Samsung but if you can afford 85inch I’m assuming you can afford the best, ie sonos arc ultra and sub 4 and 2 300s for Dolby atmos surrounds

Honestly I don't mind 120hz. For casual gaming and just spending time watching movie, netflix and YouTube with the family. I am not expecting the best.

When people create these kinda threads, I always think, "Wow, these rich people with no budget constraints."

Only later do they post their working budget. Am I right?

ur living hall area yes big, but once put the sofa, need to calculate viewer distance between it.

Agree. You don't know what you don't know. I am aware 75" price is really different from 85".

Would it be possible for TV budget between 5k to 10k? And same for the theatre system around 5k to 10k?

Again consider myself as a newbie in this range. So I am not here to get the best of the best due to my casual usage.

14 ft from TV to sofa. The guide I saw recommends more 85" for 12 feet.

But I agree I still feel 75" would be enough. But do you think it makes sense for 65"? I'm open for suggestions.

Don't know much about TV at 75". Other's can chime in.

If you want a clean setup with minimal wires, the new Bravia Theater Quad is at RM11,500 without the subwoofer. You'd need the SA-SW5 subwoofer (RM2,800) to really make it work. So total about RM14,300.

Don't think it matters to OP since I don't think he's gonna go for the Nexigo. But there will be a 120" fresnel screen bundle available on Prime Day and Black Friday. Don't know the price but probably around USD3,200.

The current bundle is with 100" fresnel screen.

You won't find a 75" TV for under 10k with decent image quality. You certainly won't find a 85" TV for under 10k either. If the size of a display is what you are looking for at under 10k, then your only choice are UST projectors - which you shouldn't expect a good gaming experience on since they usually have quite high input lag.

Since you have up to 10k budget for audio setup, forget soundbars entirely. Buy a decent receiver like a Denon x3800H and a pair of bookshelf speakers, add and build it into a multi-channel surround setup over time.

If you can provide pictures of the living room layout, that would be great.

If there are window and you don't want to use curtains, even a TV screen can be affected; think of all the objects - including your body - that are bouncing the light from the window to everywhere else, including toward the TV screen.

Interior design can also affect your enjoyment. Ceiling lights can get reflected onto the TV screen. It's good to have a soft overall glow or bounced lights for the room instead of hard sources of light. Most TVs have matte finished screens but even they can show reflected lights.

See how the TV is reflecting the bar/kitchen behind the camera? If you minimize the light in front of the TV, you can increase the enjoyment you get from your TV. The same is true for ambient light rejection screens for USTs.

Im new to TV. I bought 65inch SAmsung TV about RM3.5k a few years ago. I assume it is a basic spec. Really forget the model as I am outside now.

Recently I renovated my house, and thinking of changing it to 85 inch. This time, I gonna go higher spec than my previous tv as well as bigger in size. I did survey and found a few, QLED, OLED, etc. Which one should I go for?

I am comparing a few models:

Samsung 85 QLED QA85Q70DA is going for RM10k (RRP14k+)
Sony XR X90L 85 for RM10.5k (RRP 15k++)

If you can give some inputs on these or at least guide me to go for ULED or QLED or OLED etc.

Using a 65" Samsung The Frame paired with Sonos Arc Ultra + 2 x Era100 for rear speakers.

This is in my bedroom so didn't go for a larger TV.

Pros for the Samsung Frame:

1. matte screen, cuts reflections by alot even in daylight
2. has a One Connect box, so all the inputs goes into this box instead of directly into the TV. so I get to keep all my clutter in the AV cabinet
3. "Art Mode" abit gimmicky but nicer than a black screen when the TV is off. Also has sensor so it'll turn on/off depending on movement

The con for this TV is the price. But nowadays with 6.6/11.11 etc sales, still OK. Mine was RM5k (2023 version). Still almost 40% more than similar spec-ed TVs (but without Matte screen).

For the Sonos Arc Ultra and Era 100 pair, best to test in person if the sound profile suits you. I actually started with just 1 Era100 at home, liked it and bought another to have stereo sound. Then waited a whole year until the new Sonos Arc Ultra was released in Oct 24. Really suprised that it was also on sale by TC Acostic this 11.11 @ Rm4.2k (even the old Sonos Arc RRP is RM5.4k).

It's a far cry from a true theatre setup, but I'm happy with it especially since I use it for half an hour to an hour before bed
