Technically, the tyre can be used on the car for 5 years, if purchased within 5 years of manufacturing date.. aka, a total of 10 years from manufacturing date

DURATION OF WARRANTY

3.1 For Malaysia, the following warranties apply :

i) PLT : 5 years from the date of installation by a Customer provided that the date of purchase is within 5 years of the manufacturing date (“Malaysia Warranties”).

This is subjective and depends on tire conditions, i am using tires more than 7~8 years and not yet got any cracks or bad condition.
Michelin website also got feedback max lifespan for normal road use tires should be around 10 years.
If driven in harsh condition, i believe 2~3 years tires also worn off fast and need to change, so a 5 years limit is not accurate and should not be follow.
