Is this a sign to change tires? Is it still safe to drive?
The tires manufacturing date is Dec 2018. Almost 6 years of age.

Hi sifus, i looked all over google but can't find a similar crack pattern that is same as mine. Mine seems to be a one line pattern following a 'longkang' in the sidewall of the tires.

Yes. About time to change.
6 years is very long for a type. Mine will change every 3 years regardless. |

Is this considered the rubber hardening and weather crack? |

QUOTE(hightechgadgets8 @ Oct 12 2024, 07:39 PM) This is subjective and depends on tire conditions, i am using tires more than 7~8 years and not yet got any cracks or bad condition. Michelin website also got feedback max lifespan for normal road use tires should be around 10 years. If driven in harsh condition, i believe 2~3 years tires also worn off fast and need to change, so a 5 years limit is not accurate and should not be follow. |

Technically, the tyre can be used on the car for 5 years, if purchased within 5 years of manufacturing date.. aka, a total of 10 years from manufacturing date
https://www.dunloptyres.com.my/warranty-policy/ DURATION OF WARRANTY 3.1 For Malaysia, the following warranties apply : i) PLT : 5 years from the date of installation by a Customer provided that the date of purchase is within 5 years of the manufacturing date (“Malaysia Warranties”). Feels like you dont drive often since the thread looks pretty good. Since its on the edge of the sidewall, change if you want to avoid any unfortunate incident. I personally have driven 10 years on my previous set of CSC5 (that came stock with the car) and its a weekend car. No cracks but can feel the tyres isnt the same as when its new. Noise level is terrible, uneven wear, but it didnt cracked. Change it to Hankook Prime 3 earlier this year and much more comfy. Is this considered the rubber hardening and weather crack? |
