MG brand reliability sucks more than Proton.

Heard from my colleague in UK, when I randomly asked about MG car brand. Said MG reliability and quality gone down the drain after China company takeover MG.

You would know SAIC sub-brand Maxus here.

Not only these.
Rakyat allow their master aka Politikus crony to provide expensive 'cheap car' in the market with low safety requirement for new car sold in this country.

This country, after develop for few decades, in year 2024, we still able to buy tin kosong car from perodua. Sad or not...

Side track..

Seldom drive below 64 kmh unless traffic jam, hence NCAP ratings done at those speeds are pretty much irrelevant to me. Also impact test are not done with commercial vehicles

"So, why is it zero-star? In a world of five-star becoming standard, what actually makes the MG5 a zero-star car is down to tech as much as crash protection. ANCAP publishes a detailed report on the base model it tested, noting MG5’s lack of driver monitoring, lane support, speed limit information and child presence detection, among others. While it does have autonomous emergency braking, it doesn’t work at junctions, crossings, potential head-on collision or reversing. All this meant it earned just 2.48 points from 18 (13 per cent) in the Safety Assist section. It also scored low (37 per cent) in Adult Occupant Protection crash testing, a result of things like lack of seat-belt pre-tensioners, while the results were average/reasonable in the two other evaluated areas: 58 per cent for child occupants, and 42 per cent for pedestrian/external people protection. MG4 passed euro ncap and other global ncap with high rating.

While this MG5 performed so bad in the AUS ncap to the point you don’t need to see other regions liao.

So if you want buy MG, get a MG4 or upcoming Cyberst.

Review: Proton S70 in Malaysia - Comfy, spacious, powerful; but let down by a couple of factors 22

9.56 L/100 km (10.45 km/litre).

A figure like this puts the S70 below its nearest-priced B-segment rivals (the Toyota Vios does 6.1 L/100 km, while the Honda City musters 6.3 L/100 km). If we compare it to the Honda Civic - fair game, given the S70's size and power - the Japanese competition is still better, coming up to 8.7 L/100 km.

s70 fuel consumption higher even than Civic
vs
MG5 a claimed fuel efficiency of 17.5km per litre
