QUOTE(JohnL77 @ Oct 1 2024, 08:55 AM) We're supposed to have agreement with a few ASEAN countries that we can use our driving license in their country. We didn't ask the government to remove physical copies of our license, we simply wanted the convenience of having a digital copy so that we don't have to carry the physical copy all the time. The way they implemented this is really bad. why bad? you want to go overseas, and you want to drive overseas but you cannot go JPJ? It's not like it will take days, hours or months to get an IDP.

QUOTE(knwong @ Oct 1 2024, 08:37 AM) My friend just renewed his driving license for 10 years. He was surprised when JPJ no longer issue him a physical driving license. He was told everything now is digital and it can be viewable from MyJPJ app I now start to get worried because mine is due to renew this Jan. I need a physical copy whenever I rent cars overseas This has become very inconcenient The closest advise I can find but the guy talks with very heavy accent https://www.facebook.com/share/v/4xQGLHt2eK...mibextid=UalRPSIs it so hard for you to print it out yourself and have it laminated?

Its not the time but the unnecessary additional cost. We should be able to use our physical license and dont need to pay RM150 for an IDP. I guess the only way is to print out and laminate ourself. Lol.

According to other members, have to pay to get the physical copy? Wow you think going to government office is fun? Especially JPJ? Previously there was no need to go to JPJ if you want to drive in for example Thailand. You can renew your license at post office or online through MyEG and you receive a physical copy. Now have to go to JPJ for the physical copy and have to pay for it? They should have just continued to issue physical copy instead of adding this layer of trouble.

Go to JPJ and say you want to renew your driving license + get physical card + apply for IDP one shot. Then renew for 10 years driving license, and you will get a 10 year validity physical card.

I don't need IDP cos many overseas country doesn't need that at all but might as well. Thanks

Recently a Thai police made a video saying they prefer physical card. They dont believe / trust the MyJPJ app.
So to lessen issues, best get a physical card. ASEAN countries accept each other drivers license however this digital thing is new.
Paying RM 150 for something that was free earlier doesnt make sense. But times has changed so need to keep up.....
IDP follows the present driving license or its yearly ?

Several countries don't need IDP but when police stop you it is less of a risk/hassle to have IDP vs not have. This is especially in non english speaking countries.

anybody sini pergo go JPJ and ask ka...
Okay, i bekum JPJ counter (sbb they say open 8am, tp counter 830 baru ada org....but the lady nice to me so no ranting)
You isi one form, I forgot apa form, its for physical license, cakap mahu go overseas and all. Its FREE, but you kena renew one year la so they print baru. Say your license ada 3 years lagi, renew 1 year RM30, then they give you physical with 4 years expiry
Okay, catch..sbb ckp nk pergi overseas, kena ada attachment, mine that day my flight ticket. Dapat terus, so FREE, NO COST, since kena renew driving license too
